A great result and well deserved, it was good to meet you at Newby Hall Car show and I look forward to seeing it in the metal there next year

Cheers Tony and great to meet you. All being well it should make an appearance. With any luck it'll be a bit more "show ready" than it is currently too. Your 535 will upstage it regardless though. 😆

Okay… Just thought I might can help… Have a 1992 325i convertible w/manual 5speed myself. I’ve done lots of upgrades and i’m about to replace the rag top over this summer. by-the-way… those adjustment screws/bolts are on the high side…cost wise @ $20.00-US each. Have had my E30 for over 8 years…. what a joy to work on as well as drive? Well I'll stay tuned in as I watch you continue wrenching! PS… As you make the aiming and focus adjustments…25' Off a vertical wall with the car on level ground. Full tank of gas; at least 150 lbs on the rear seats... the focus points on the wall should be about the same as from the height of the beams at the front bumper from the floor! . Keep up the excellence! Knox New York USA.

Hi mate, the problem I have is that the adjusters are all messed up which is why I had to resort to using shims. If it works, it ain't stupid. 😂 I am planning to replace all the adjusters though eventually. 👍

Nice work Alex, on the coilovers socks.. Just noticed you cable tied the bottom socks..try not to be too tight, if any water gets inside, it can be drained off easily, if not, it will be filled with water...

Thank you Felix! And great point about the covers, I think it will be able to drain but that's excellent advice. I'll be sure to leave them slightly slack. 😀

Awesome work fellas. This build has helped me out so much on my 316i I bought at the same time. I'm also down to having power steering issues! Hopefully it's the hoses I'm having fabbed up tomorrow.

Great news regards the MOT, always a bit of a worry, especially emissions. TBH, I'm a bit disillusioned with copper grease, I don't think it has much water repelling property, if any. I'm not that sure about the anti-seize either, although it must be better than nothing at all. The coilover covers look nifty, they're bound to give some protection, only time will tell. Soon be time for some warmer weather and paint.
@SPANNERRASH8 ай бұрын
Thanks Bob, I was thrilled it passed. I was a bit worried about emissions too, but absolutely no issue with that at all it turned out. Even though the car has no cats and never did. I think they only judge the emissions based on the era of car so a "classic" car like this won't live or die by modern emissions standards, only versus the standards of the past. I think you're right about the copper grease, the grease part ends up disappearing leaving only the copper as a protective layer. This from what I know is what protects against seizing fasteners. For coilovers, copper grease is generally what's recommended but like you I question whether its the best stuff. The covers should make a big difference to how well they last!

How do you find the scorpion exhaust system? Is it very loud or only loud at wide open throttle in the upper revs? Are you also running a catalytic converter?
@SPANNERRASH6 ай бұрын
Honestly it's too loud for me, but maybe I'm getting old. 😆 Sounds really amazing when you are giving it the beans though. One of my problems is the map I have seems to have a bit of this burble malarkey, which is not for me. 10 years ago I'd have probably loved it. I will deffo follow up with a vid on the car outlining what needs to be changed. It's all fixable! No cats, this E30 never had them from factory anyway.
@phaze1176 ай бұрын
@@SPANNERRASH thanks for the info. I currently have a dual muffler setup, magnaflow mid muffler, magnaflow rear. No cat. It's way too loud for me unfortunately. Was thinking this might be quieter but it may seem like it's too similar to mine?
@SPANNERRASH6 ай бұрын
@@phaze117 Seems likely it'll be similar. Let me know if you come up with a solution. The scorpion has a thin mid box and humongous backbox. I'd have thought it would be quiet, but it's not. Is that similar to the Magnaflow setup?
