Rini, I wonder if you would ever know what kind of an influence you had on people my age. People you never know and probably never will. How would you ever put a value to that? You raised the bar for us and that really lifted us up. I grew up and still live in a small town Changanassery in Kerala . When I was in college, the only opportunity to hear people speaking English was to listen to the news on TV and Radio. You and Sasikumar were my favourite teachers. I could never thank you enough. The poise the style the impeccable delivery , all used to give me the goosebumps and i aspired to speak like that. Am so happy to see that you are admired and continue to inspire people of all ages. Totally mesmerized. I recall, on 29th June 2007, I invited her to anchor the program to celebrate First STATISTICS DAY at Vigyan Bhawan where Dr. Manmohon Singh, Hon'ble Pm was the Chief Guest. I was a young women, when news casting emerged on TV. I, loved Rinni Simon, not only for news reading, but for her, impeccable reading of the English news. As, I grew up when, the British were leaving India, so the importance of speaking the queen's language using the the correct language was important. I still admire. Persons who do so. @Rini Simon Khanna was a star amongst us youngsters, during the '80s. Her youthful face stood apart from the other stalwarts like Salma, Shashikumar, Neethi, etc. And she had a voice different from the typical female ones that one was used to around. Even now, the emphasis that she makes on proper diction and pronounciation is worth emulating. Getting mastery over a language, which is not your mother tongue is difficult, where nuances could be varied. Ms Rini deserves kudos for her excellent service to the nation and inspiration to a few generations of Indian women. She has done a great job in speaking of those days for the new generation. It's so delightful & great to hear Rini's voice. When I was in college I had the opportunity to hear these line of voices. Mrs. Iyer, Rini,sunit Tandon, and many more. As said by Rini in this video not having feminine voice, still it attracts everyone and stick to hear. Rendition, articulation and style. While on Doordarshan though on camera eye contact was excellent. As per the content of news voice modulation also changes. First of all I would like to thank those who posted this clipping here. Because, this is the voice I love to hear again and again. How can I forget her voice and pronunciation which kept glued to TV screen in late eighties. Doordarshan was the only channel in those days. At 8-30pm I was present to watch news in English for I loved English more than news to improve my teaching skills. Rini Simon, Minu, Tejeshwar Singh helped me improve myself as an efficient English teacher. Their voice did it. I am unable to thank them in words. May they be happy all their life. Thank you.
