We had an 1986 Honda Civic, no electronics, but close to a hundred, not kidding, vacuum hoses, all unmarked, and to remove around 40 of the just to remove the air cleaner. Son came over with his 2010 Dodge Nitro, doing a brake job. I am 80 years old now and every time I purchased a new car used plenty of anti-seize and silicone grease on the rotor hub, pad tabs, and grease in the caliper pins. I could only supervise, took him three hours to remove one wheel, caliper and rotor. Really hate road salt. Anti-seize prevents this. Asked about spark plugs, easy to spot coil on plugs, but that air cleaner is in the way. along with all those sensors, plugs, and hidden bolts to remove. What does a dealer charge? Can't bend over, just had back surgery, see how it goes with him. Maybe easier to buy a new vehicle.

Thanks gonna tackle this job. I've done a ford 5.4 intake manifold replacement before so this shouldn't be to hard. Misfire. Might as well change all coils and spark plugs would hate to pull this and just do spark plugs and a coil be bad

Helped my son do this, this morning on his 2010 Nitro 4.0L, you can actually see the coil tops under that super wide intake manifold. Asking myself why. Carburetor feeds the center of this large piece of plastic and has six holes in the dead center of it that go straight down into the lower intake manifold. If it was just two inches narrower on each side, no need to remove it. On some Chrysler products used an intake manifold with tune intakes, but they have to be four feet longs, no way is this upper intake manifold having tunes intakes. Only reason why I can see its this wide and seen many V-6 engines that got by with all six coil on plugs exposed with no reason to make the intake manifold this wide is to make it too complicated for the average person to do it so their dealer can charge up to 300 bucks to do this job. His fuel economy increased by 5 mpg, but does have a mile hydraulic lifter valve knock. Told him to add a couple of ounces of Seafoam to his engine oil to clear that up.

Hey Brotha, I was hoping to get your advice; I have the same vehicle and im getting p0344 error code (camshaft position sensor bank 1) i bought a new sensor but im wondering, i have to remove the cover to access it ? Is there anychance you could maybe walk me through this ? (Symptoms, now power in acceleration, idle sounds rough) prior to this i was getting a code for exhaust leak

the seals around the spark plug tube are worn and the valve cover gasket needs to be replaced.

I did the same thing on my nitro and the engine light came on with the lightning red light. Also it read the map sensor. Any ideas?

How you ever replay the EGR on the 4.0?

Read about that EGR above, just as to be properly reinstalled. Kind of a dangerous thing, back in 1972 required by law when the government under Nixon took over the automotive world. First to go was leaded gas that burns at 2100*F with unleaded gas that burns at 2600*F. First thing to go was the exhaust valves followed by holes in your pistons. What aviation did was to spray water in with the gas to cool it down, too complicated for the average user so exhaust gas recirculation was used. If that valve does not open, most are vacuum operated, some electrical servo motors, your engine will burn up. On newer engines, with electronic valve timing closely the exhaust valves early to keep exhaust in the cylinder for the next cycle. Most of the newer vehicles will show a check engine light, but in the 70's, mechanics were making lots of money replacing exhaust valves.
