I swear you are a mind reader paul!! just getting ready to do mine, i have done the oil and filter also the fuel filter is done. I spent today checking my rear subframe and all the link arms today, blasted it all with de greaser and foam and cleaned it up. the drop links, rear tie arms and upper wishbone bushes are gone. I will just replace the lot when the subframe comes down shortly. I have taken some video today, I am thinking about putting it up. Noticed the rear rivers brake pipe uniion to the caliper leaking, I cleaned it all out and did a tourque check, way under torqued do sorted that and its ok. will figure the video and still photos out and perhaps put it on YT. Keep up the good work!

Out of interest Paul, have you looked at your throttle body at all? My car has been playing up the past few days and the only thing i hadn't looked at was the throttle body. got home from work tonight and disconnected the air pipe and looked in, it was caked and very sticky in there. Unbolted it and checked the rear, that was worse. I had some liquid moly here so using a delicate brush and some blue roll stuffed in the front side to catch the fluid i sprayed it into a clean small glass jar and brushed the backside clean, This took quite some time. Then did the same on the other side, rotated the flap and gently cleaned that with no pressure at any time. I have used this method on my previous cars. It took a while to get it cleaned up and then dried down, I will check it again this weekend and see if i missed anything. Took it out for a run and it was a completely different car, no jolts when coming to a junction, no idling jumps or wanting to drop revs. Ordering the sparkplugs this week, Question is it worth puting the iridums in? also, is it worth putting some redex injector cleaner in the tank next time i fill it up? Thanks again for the info, most appreciated.

I haven't been into the throttle body yet. I wonder if all that dirt you mentioned is from the PCV valve? Thanks for the info. All is revealed tomorrow night on my choice of plugs. Thanks for watching 👍

Great channel watch all time have 2009 XKR if your socket if had rubber I set then the plugs will come out with the socket, Secondly when get part number iridium p.ugscould you please post on next video. CHRISTOPHER OTTAWA CANADA
@life_on_cars Жыл бұрын
Hello Chris. Thanks for watching Yes I will include the part number on Wednesday Video. Personally, I don't like a rubber insert in the spark plug socket as it has a tendency to cause the socket to get stuck on the plug!

Hi Paul hope you are well , went to Jaguar dealership today to enquire about full service cost , all in £745 including labour and VAT , AND £45 for diff oil change 🤷🏼♂️ what’s your opinion ?
@life_on_cars Жыл бұрын
It's the going rate nowadays 😢 you would get a stamp in your service book though... does this include air oil and fuel filter and spark plugs?
@ianhortonplant Жыл бұрын
Generally speaking there's no point going to a dealer unless you've got a warranty with them. They're very expensive and you're often better off going to a good independent specialist who will be just as competent and miles cheaper.

You should probably add that this is for a 4.2 Ltr N/A. Anyone with a 5 Ltr, especially the Supercharged version will quickly find that it's nothing like this and way harder to do. The 5s are a pig to get to the spark plugs with the way the engine is jammed in.
