many good rooftops in jakarta. But you can start from SKYE Bar & Restaurant, it's located in Grand Indonesia Mall, you can take a walk first in that very big Mall. Then you can also try other rooftops like HENSHIN which is located at the Westin hotel. Oh yes, for the meatballs that you are eating it doesn't seem to have eggs in it, but at other restaurants like Bakso Atom, there is a choice of meatballs which do contain eggs...

Few things to note for you: 1. Foreigners’ price will most probably be different from local’s in most tourist area or for the rides. Unless it’s fixed price (like malls, or taxis); 2. The foods sold in the expensive restaurants are mostly the internationalized version. Ask locals for real local delicacies; 3. Our not-so-spicy is spicy for most part of the world; 4. Even in big cities, Indonesia is not really English speakers friendly (except for Jakarta and Bali). So if you go to other part of Indonesia, you better do your research first; 5. Make friends with locals, they’ll happily help you; 6. Have fun and enjoy Indonesia.

Hello guys, thanks for explore jakarta.. Jakarta is a big city you can explore. You can't find gado-gado in bali restaurant tho. you need to jakarta or betawi restaurant, because gado-gado is jakarta food. My suggest you going to glodok chinatown to find it and explore traditional food like nasi ulam, gudeg, sop kambing, sate padang and also delicious bakso and also many traditional food and drinks. good time for go to there is 3 or 4 PM. And if you go at night, better going to jalan sabang night market (pasar malam), in there have a lot street food. Regards from me..

Actually the Meatball (Bakso) has 2 versions, one with minced meats another one with an egg you have to choose what you prefer, maybe the staff did not explain it well and did not understand what you want either due to language barrier. BTW while you still at Jakarta you should go to PIK 2 (Pantai Indah Kapuk 2), its like Chinatown, well probably it is

I would like to recommend another interesting place while you are in jakarta, maybe you can visit the scbd area, rasuna epicentrum area, because there you will see a different atmosphere from other areas in jakarta. Or maybe you can visit a place to hang out with a more modern atmosphere in the child sudirman & one satrio mega kuningan area, and bus street enjoy the atmosphere of jakarta at night around the HI roundabout... You can enjoy if from skydeck of the transjakarta bus stop in the shape of a ship, you can also visit the pinisi bridge in sudirman to enjoy the beauty of jakarta at night..

Gado-Gado is usually available in the morning till noon, you can look for it near traditional markets in Jakarta. While in the evening you can only find Ketoprak. Good luck on your Gado-Gado hunt 😉

if you plan to go to the island of sumatera, make sure you visit Padang/Bukit Tinggi in (west sumatera province) and Medan/Lake Toba (north sumatera province), the nature and culture are beautiful and the food there are very nice. you can also visit Palembang (south sumatera province) and try Pempek and other traditional dish there.

If you really want to try Indonesian veggies food, then I recommend you to try Gado gado, pecel, karedok, urap urap and our fruit salad rujak manis. We also have veggies soup, veggies curry (lodeh) which made from green jackfruit and other vegetables then cook it with coconut milk. rooftop options in the center of Jakarta : SKYE Bar in Grand Indonesia Mall or Cloud Lounge in Plaza Indonesia, just in front of Grand Indo. I like Cloud Lounge, because they are more laid back for "dress code" and nice outdoor seating for just having a small drink and snack.
