Sparking Zero is Dead...

I'm sure ya'll are aware of the "90% drop" in Sparking Zero players that has been going around recently. Keep in mind, not only is this normal after 1 month, but this is only on Steam and does NOT reflect how active the game is on all consoles especially PS5 which has the MOST players. Even 15k players on Steam is still really good for an anime fighting game like this. All anime games / Dragon Ball games get a drop like this after 1 month mainly cuz people did everything for story and unlocking characters, etc. I know the game still has issues, but a new patch will be coming next month which "hopefully" will address some of those major problems. The game is not dying and has already sold more than 3 million copies. It will be fine as long as the devs take the feedback we give and try to keep improving it. Let me know what changes you'd like to see!

I agree especially being the game to go back to. This is not a game that is full of content. I will always keep going back to it every once in a while especially when new characters and story is released in the future in the DLC. Also if I ever feel some inspiration for a custom battle. It had it's peak moment now it is settling. Everyone will move on to the next game but keep coming back to play with friends.

I feel people have just moved on. PC players especially on Steam with all it's game sales they are just playing other games now. It had it's moment, the dedicated people are still playing everyone else is now enjoying other games. So long as someone has 50+ hours on the game They enjoyed it within that time. I am sure they will still go back to it from time to time to play with friends or when DLC's drop as well as major patches. Sparking Zero is a great quick game to play. The majority of players are going to gravitate towards strong characters, honestly thats not hard to believe if you just think for a literal second, it's also a term called the dominant strategy. If you look at any fighting game, it's been the case of strong character = lot of peoples play strong character. Ggst happy chaos, Uni 2 vatista and/or hyde, smash meta knight/kirby, tekken with dragonuv, granblue nier ect.. The difference between these games and dbz sparking is they get an update and balance changes while sparking devs have said they won't. So if you wanna blame anyone blame the devs not the players who are going to choose to win if they can.

As for the players who seek the cheesiest way to win then leave a match when it doesn’t go their way, yea those players are the problem. Who cares to play ranked anymore? If you’re a good player, 9 times out of 10 you’re gonna have ppl rage quit with no penalties. That just falls back to the devs. But if you honestly sit there and think players aren’t at the very least part of the problem, then clearly you are one of those players.

Fighting games die real fast on PC compared to console, it's why I love that most of them are getting crossplay now. Let's use GranBlue for example. PC right now has only 557 players, but because the game has crossplay I can go to a public lobbies and they'll be mostly filled. Sparking Zero would also benefit from crossplay because if the player base continues to drop as more new games come out it'll prevent people from spending 30 minutes looking for a match.

Custom battles can provide a much better story mode than the actual story Someone made the entire Frieza fight in BT3 style as an what if without Goku. Technically this could be extended by making the what if part optional We can also make unique challenges where you are only allowed to win under certain conditions Someone else created a Broly boss fight in the city with many cutscenes and combo attacks, including a team combo Players who complain about the short story mode are actually just asking for cutscenes

I would like to get back in and touch the custom battle creating a unique story but what is already here isn’t enough to create what I want. Missing characters, missing halo accessory for canonized dead characters (give us King Kai’s planet), missing locations/planets. I haven’t even touched it but analyzing what is there for custom creation limits me to only the Z saga which I have plans for but I really had a based storyline with Turles escaping hell during the invasion of hell saga in GT. I’m sure down the line there will be more dialogue, more npc’s, more locations and such, but until then I just like hoppin in and creating sick replays knowing that my replays get erased after each patch.

I have a hot take on this: We are not in 2024, they have been TOO close to Tenkaichi 3 and the game needed more content to make it last longer. Besides, they should have look at how XENOVERSE 2 has lasted so long. No group battles (more than two characters on screen at the same time) reduce the online options signicantlly. Yeas, I was there in 2007 I´m a HUGE Tenkaichi 3 fan and still I say they should have find a way to allow group battles (wich obviously means tweak some gameplay aspects) besides, If you still want play classic 1 vs 1 you just can do it.

Instead of playing the original story, again and again for how many decades no There's just not much replay value if you're not into the competitive bit. The What-if's were kind of fun, but lacked big time in my opinion.

Not dead to me. I have 4 babies. I play 1 hour a night. First game I've been excited about in years. Played CoD. I really don't like it, I miss Battlefield. Instantly switched back to Sparking Zero. Way more of a rush. As long as I can play it, it's not Dead

Don’t get me wrong, SZ is not a perfect game, no game is. But damn I think I’m right in saying that this is arguably the greatest DB game of all time. Top 5 for sure. To still have the amount of players it does even after a 90% drop off on steam is still impressive. The drop off for SZ is other games’ peak player count! The standard was set so high when this game came out. And mind you there’s so many people playing on PS5 and Xbox, steam player count isn’t really reflective of the entire player base. PS: also I feel like BO6 actually being a really decent cod probably the best cod in recent years is the reason for the drop off too

Fighting games always lose a big chunk of player base, it does not mean the game is lacking or bad, that's just fighting games in general, that being said there are things people want fixed, rage quitting and meta has turned people away, when they get patched some people will come back as well, but even so 16K for peak player count on STEAM , keep in mind PS5 has a bigger player count, I hope anyone who thinks this game is "dying" sees this

Bruh people who care about player numbers are silly, 3 million copies and players who spent a full month playing ALL the content, this game had a lot of good stuff. (The custom content!) As someone who played all the budokai, tenkaichi budokai games... I played them mostly as single player experiences. Or with friends. Imagine all the PS2 era gems folks be saying fell off if player count numbers were what mattered.

The game is too heavy for my PC, I've been playing dragon ball games with max graphics for years, and now that dragon ball sparking zero dropped, the game runs in slow motion unless I make it look like a Nintendo DS port and that SUCKS SO MUCH

I 100% all the achievements in 1 weeks of course I'm gonna take a break after that. That's how it is with most games. Really the only outliers are games like CoD Warzone and Fortnite which release new skins and content every 2 or 3 months which brings interest back into the game boosting the player count again.

I will say as a veteran dbz fans and player, yes the game is unbalanced but the developers have created maneuvers and skills that will allow you to stop the cheese if you become skilled enough. I get it, the rage quitting pisses me off, like GET GUD!, but the game does need a few checks and balances. Black myth wukong had MANY ISSUES but that didn’t take away from the overall experience. This game is like the 2k and madden of fighting games. You need to learn how to move and vanish. Every character has a tell to their moves that allow you to prepare to defend yourself. But people don’t think strategically in games like this, their main thought is punch/special move….some people are litterally playing the game wrong. I play against my brother everyday and we just keep getting better and better.

I finished the story stuff, the game won't let me do anything online due to "connection errors" before the match even starts, and I only play it now when my friends visit. If it wasn't for that, I'd be playing it more. Why does online not work ;-;

I Belive one reasone is because There isn't that Much Single player content sure story mode has quiet a bit and you can do a lot with customes but (with p vs c) there isn't much else bt3 had Sim battle 100 mission survivel bt2 had Battle tower i think those coming back (i hope they could do that) would help Im not saying its the main reasone but Thats one reasone why im not playing much

Even on PS5 I can’t find player matches. I’m forced to play Ranked or offline. Everytime I enter a player match lobby Somebody has been sitting in there for 2 hours with 0 matches.
