a trick I picked up when I was a cub is if you have a complex bend, do a miniature mockup, first, using a scrap of solid copper conductor. that way you have a model of what direction each bend needs to be and don't accidentally make a bend backwards.

To get your measurements to jb where do you measure on jb center, top or bottom. I've gotten better bet still have measurements off especially in air working solo.

Have you done a video of how to add a T-box to an existing straight conduit? Could you bend offset in place or do you have to use couplers? PS. Great Video
@SparkyChannel3 жыл бұрын
No, I don't have a video like that. You would need the proper fittings for EMT. "T." Clamps are suitable for Type MC metal-clad cable. But with emt fittings you can certainly use box offset bends.

Thanks for the content sparky, but where does the multiplier come from? is it different for each type of size of conduit? Is there a way to calculate it with out seeing a reference table? Sorry for the questions but I’m just starting and I love to understand instead of just know.
@kenbrown28083 жыл бұрын
it is all geometry. the offset multiplier is sort of simple to calculate - you're essentially calculating the hypotenuse of a right triangle. the "gain" in a 90 is a trickier calculation, because it is the difference between the radius of the bender - which is different depending on the size of the pipe and the brand of bender - and a square corner. it bears mentioning that if you use 30 degree bends for an offset, the multiplier is 2.
@SparkyChannel3 жыл бұрын
Here you go: How To Memorize EMT Multipliers, Shrink and Outer Marks of 3 Point Saddle Bends: kzbin.info/www/bejne/lX-6g4mnjKunoZI Yes, the different sizes of EMT use the same multipliers.

Have you ever tried the push through method of 3 point saddles ?
@SparkyChannel3 жыл бұрын
I've been thinking of making a video about it. This was a rather unusual situation where I had to start the 3 pt saddle near the start of the conduit and I had a long piece of conduit in front of me. I learned that 3rd bend of the 3 pt saddle from a pro competing at the IDEAL National Championships. I was just filming but I sure wished that I was out on the floor competing. :)
