ok tough guy, your pkb fight in suburban indiana isn't impressing anyone, you think you've got training figured out better than these guys?@@elni.gromante

@@Leadfoot_P71 that's what i was thinking too, you can only use the inside of your foot to trip in Muay Thaï, otherwise we would see a lot more trips and throws !

This was beautiful. They were definitely high level fighters. Their sweeps seemed effortless. However it seemed like your head movement was more active in slipping punches. I don’t know. Just a thought and an observation. Good stuff as always.

@jackchau95458 ай бұрын
muay thai doesn't emphasize on head movement as heavily - you could argue that they should do it more, but traditionally thai fighters fight out of the pocket (kicking range), so that's why i don't think head movement is practiced as much (also, moving your head too low makes you more susceptible to kicks and knees as well)
@gbruceg51388 ай бұрын
@@jackchau9545 No doubt. I trained in Muay Thai, and head movement was not focused on as much as striking, kick placement & throws.
@traceurs6198 ай бұрын
Head movements have to be executed well in a Thai fight for it to be effective. And knowing WHEN to do so is key. Doing it too much can easily be read and doing it at bad times could lead to a mishap. Unlike Muay Thai here in the states, those dudes are constantly kicking, kneeing, elbowing… you’d be bobbing and weaving all match, scoring no points.
@R3dCol0r8 ай бұрын
Their headmovement didn't seem to be less active to me, rather smaller movements and more front to back. Looked like they moved just as often but used minimal movement and put their heads only slightly out of range.
@ancientdarkness31028 ай бұрын
Sparring videos like this show how cool and effective muay thai really is. Watching fights is one thing, you see the determination, the power and the roughness of the real thing, but light sparrings such as The one in the video are perfect to see the creativity, the flow and the versatility of the art itself. Mixing Jeffs style and a more traditional muay thai style Like those three champs would be the perfect recipe imo.

Great clip! You've done countless stand-up fight sparring sessions. I'm curious, how do you perceive the difference between sparring with Thai fighters compared to fighters from other nationalities? I notice that Thai fighters seem to be more relaxed and focused on their techniques, rather than engaging in hard sparring like the fighters in other clips I've seen. I'd love to know your thoughts on the different sparring styles.

After watching so many high level MMA and Muy Thai fights the first thing that comes to my mind and after watching this session is how boxing super effective against muy thai style. Your slipping, distance management and straight punches were really giving them trouble. They prefer to throw power punches and hooks which is good if you land but if you stay away from their close range and pick them apart with straight punches they become much easier opponents. I guess what they say is really true. Style makes fights.
@MMAShredded8 ай бұрын

@umeshurocks8 ай бұрын
That may be true in controlled sparring, but a different thing if going all out. Notice them catching a lot of kicks, that's not happening in a real fight, and if it does its not without possible consequences of a broken rib. Also they would probably choose to clinch up if facing a superior boxer that gets into range rather than exchange in the pocket.

Awesome video, I have a question regarding kickboxing. I used to train boxing before and recently i started taking kickboxing classes so i am new with the kicking part. I am 185 cm tall and weigh 95kg. Usually i am taller than the sparring partners in my gym and what they tend to do is stay on the outside and when i try to attack them they low kick me. I tried countering the strategy by not going in for trades and waiting for them to engage but most of the time they don't engage and it becomes a staring match. Any tips on how to deal with the stay outside style of fighters?
