Another friendly round between me and George. He is not very practiced with the spear since he is mainly a JKD/Kali practitioner but we were having fun just randomly going through weapons the other night. I am doing Krabi-Krabong which is the Thai weapon art. In this case, I have two Thai Dhabs, a traditional symbol of the Thai martial history.

@@muayboran6111 I've always been sceptical of the Thai two-sword system. A sword makes a rather poor off-hand weapon as compared to a shield or a shorter blade. The only other two-sword system I'm aware of is from Iberian vulgar fencing and it seems more like a kind of flashy exercise than a martially-sound system to me. Still, the two-sword krabikrabong is pretty well-established now, so I say go with it! BTW, daap or dap, not dhab.

I agree, I don't question the skill of the double sword wielder, but the spear guy has poor footwork, and no ability to create openings. At the end of the video, the double sword guy invites an attack with a a wideopen guard. Against a skillful spear wielder,he wouldn't dare.

Nice, it doesn't matter if he isn't good with a spear yet, key word being "yet." For everyone who has a problem with the spear user being a noob, think about it properly. Everyone has to start somewhere with a new weapon. If he doesn't fight as a noob he will never become a master. So noobs should be encouraged, we were all noobs once. Plus it also is good for martial artists to fight beginners, because we are all used to fighting other trained people, which is actually unrealistic to do allt he time. Because if you ever do get attacked with a weapon like a machete or sword, it most likely wont be from an experienced master fencer lol. The guy trying to rob your shop most likely isn't an expert, so you should train Vs all different skill level of opponents.
@matthewsteele5229

The problem isn’t that he’s a noob, it’s that he’s so much less competent than the swordsman and yet the video is depicting this as spear vs Thai swords. The weapons are being compared and yet the wielders are not equal in skill. It’s an unfair comparison
@londiniumarmoury7037
@londiniumarmoury7037 4 жыл бұрын
@@matthewsteele5229 Well it's true, we can all see the skill gap between them, so I don't think anybody would take this as a direct fair weapon comparison. We can mostly see this, not everything has to be a fair fight, there's nothing wrong with letting less skilled people use a weapon type and comparing how a better fighter does with a different weapon. I never got the impression they were saying "Look the sword beat the spear, therefore swords are better" I like seeing mismatched fights they tend to be fun to watch and participate in.

@@LanChiaoPeng That's a pretty good saying, where is it from or did you make it up? it's somewhat true, sometimes a beginner can be more difficult to settle in with, as they are wild, with an experienced fighter, they will respect certain threats, where a noob might not be aware of the threat and do something stupid that can cause a double if you dont beware of the noobs wild swings.
