This is the best faction review I have seen. The tips are amazing. Though I was again baffled at how similar our army comps are. I had the same army comp when I was playing the Mauryans as you had in your series. Even here I use the same comp (just with 4 tier 1 troops instead of 3 and 2 tier 3 instead of 3) . The oblique order was a great addition though. I also have similar policy regarding cavalry with minimum of 4 and max of 6, with a variety of light and heavy cavalry.

funnily enough i just started a sparta playthrough yesterday - among other mods, i am using the better vassal levies submod in order to build varied armies with the best of each faction i subjucate using spartan hoplites as the backbone of each one :)

Every spartan is a noble why do they not all have chainmail/bronzeplate in the later reforms? Always felt weird to me. Also why remove the thorax hoplites instead of having thorax pikes and hoplites?

Sparta was way past its prime, and most of the Spartans in the late game are actually emancipated Helotes, not nobles, to fill the ranks of Spartas armies as they had a severe population crisis.

Hey Summary, question; the plus 2 unit experience to the melee infantry seems to be only 1 more then al other units recruited in DEI (Sparta or otherwise). So the melee attack and defense boni are already distributed among all other factions. Only the plus 1 morale seems to be unique to Sparta, which seems a bit weak compared to other factions (and redundant to a faction notorious for it's already high morale). Will the standard plus 1 unit experience be removed from al other factions?

Shame they removed the spartan thorax hoplites, I prefer the look of them over the reformed ones, also the colors wouldn't hurt if they were more red than orange. Regardless Sparta is Sparta always feel badass playing as them 😊

Should be used as much as possible for all factions. With Rome it is easy because their Auxilia comes from pop4. With other factions try to replace certain units with mercenaries and AOR units. Focus on your faction strengths and where you have identical or better options from mercenaries and AOR, go for them. If I am playing as the Antigonidai for example, - General from pop1, unavoidable. - Cavalry from pop1. - Pike core from pop2. - Melee troops from pop4, pretty similar suggestions to the guide for Mercenary and AOR options. - Ranged troops, usually shouldn't take casualties, so doesn't really matter, but if you can pop4 these units nothing like it.
