Spartan, regardless of anyone's past. offering forgiveness for an isolated event isn't egotistical. The opposite is true, it's egotistical to not forgive despite your own past because of an incident or history of incidents. Now not everyone is owed forgiveness and forgiveness can come in many forms including disregard. A good way to understand what I mean is as if you were wrong about something you were sure of in the past. That injured and caused harm to someone. You now have information that could prevent harm but that person doesn't know if they can trust you. You aren't owed forgiveness despite all their history and wrong doings. IF they do forgive you and take your word, it isn't because they think they're better than you and them offering their forgiveness means, regardless if you're sorry for the past or not, they don't want carry it into their future. Saying "No one asked your forgiveness" is in fact ego on recipient side. They forgave you regardless if you were sorry or not. That's because forgiveness isn't for the other person but yourself. The longer you hold on to resentment, the more poisonous it is for you and your own wellbeing. You might not realize "getting yourself food and none for pudgy" is a betrayal but her saying "I forgive you" isn't egotistical of her. She understood you thought maybe she ate already or whatever other reason why you forgot to get food for her too. You were selfish in the moment not considering her needs when you got food regardless if you thought of her or not. That's what we call carelessness. That's why it's "thoughtful" to get someone you care about something in that moment JUST INCASE they were also hungry, or you would see them. Similarly, in a situation like that or in a business, If you used company funds and didn't ask the boss ahead of time knowing the person using the funds wasn't supposed to be using it. ESPECIALLY, if they told you not to tell the boss. You would get fired in a normal job that way. In the UNDERWORLD, people die for shit like this. Even if it is to "help the company" or "organization," you'd end up in a ditch for stealing money and everyone who helped you would lose all credibility if they weren't in the ditch too. Saying "I forgive you" does come off more of a power play but it's not really that different than saying "don't worry about it." The only difference is that Walter is making it appoint that he was in violation of not keeping him informed. If he was a cop he'd say "take this as a warning" like when you were speeding but they let you go with just a "if I catch you again there's going to be consequences." You have to remember this isn't just between friends and family but business partners and clients. Even more so between illicit business. If the show hasn't shown you enough yet, BUT people die for shit like this. Shit the dude almost died for denying the money. Now it was sauls people and not Gus. Had it been Gus, he would have died just to save the IRS some time and Gus the money. So for clarification, the idea you "need to beg for someone's forgiveness" is egotistical. Is it important to show your remorse and try to make amends, absolutely. You are not owed their forgiveness for trying. You try to make amends because that person is important to you and you're trying repair the damage of which you might never be able to do so. Similarly, forgiveness is a personal thing. No one is owed your forgiveness and you can forgive someone regardless if they're sorry or not. That doesn't mean you return to how things were. You can forgive them and move on never wanting anything to do with them. You can forgive them and keep them at a distance or you can go on like nothing ever happened. You set what boundaries you have in your relationships. You can set healthy boundaries as a form of forgiveness. For example, you can forgive Pudgy for eating your snacks but not trust her to know where you hid them from here on out. This is important when dealing with addict family members where you love them and forgive them but know you can't trust them blindly with money or not to steal for money. So, offering forgiveness is for you. Similarly people in the wrong have to forgive themselves which many learn in therapy down the line regardless if someone offers them forgiveness or not. Some people you can never ask for forgiveness and it'll destroy you like when a family member dies on bad terms, and you can't get that forgiveness from them. Also when they don't want to forgive you but you're doing better in your life but those errors still bother you. Like Jesse's parents not trusting him that's he's doing better or clean, even though he's still illegally cooking meth and are valid for not trusting Jesse. It's better for Jesse to forgive his parents so he can move on and be a healthy person both mentally and emotionally Like forgiving himself for Jane's death. She wouldn't have been in the position if he didn't get her back into drugs. I know you like Jesse, but you have to remember what he's doing is still illegal and harmful. He's helping addicts have a better more addictive high that they're neglecting their kids as seen with that episode with the ATM. Those are the people he's cooling and selling drugs to use. He is not innocent, no one is in this show. Except maybe Hank but he covers for Marie's stealing habit.

Disagree that they had Gus's "Say so" If this wasn't the first time they did it he would have known and chosen to continue working with them. But I doubt they asked him if they could have a kid kill a competitor. They just figured it was beyond his interests, he either didn't care or didn't interfere with their operation (they are closer to being his clients than his employees) they also believed they were free to kill the kid after and we don't know if Gus was planning to punish them for that as Walt and Jessie went after them the same day they did it.

I don't think so. We saw Victor doing something Gus didn't like (attempting to cook Walter's formula and wasting expensive ingredients in the process), and Gus killed him immediately. So he doesn't have his underlings under complete control. Walt is also one of his employees, and he constantly goes against Gus. Yes, Gus threatened Walt's family, but he said that right to Walt's face to make it clear that there would be consequences if he defied him. There was no good reason for Gus to order the death of Tomas, especially as he knew how Jesse would react to it. That would result in Jesse's death at the hands of those two guys, and the loss of Walt's cooperation. Gus also looked genuinely offended at the mere suggestion that he was responsible for that.

Using magnets to erase a hard drive likely wouldn't work today. Almost all modern laptops use solid state drives (SSDs), rather than magnetic based hard drives. At the time the show aired very few laptops had SSDs, thus erasure with a very strong magnet was possible.

Spartan, that's not an M4 carbine. It's not even an AR pattern rifle like the AR15, AR10, MK18, M4A1, etc.. It's a proper machinegun that's sitting in that trunk, that shoots much larger grain projectiles than any 5.56 rifle does. I think Gus most likely must have known that his gangbanger dealers would kill the kid (Tomas) after he told them "No more children." And maybe he anticipated Jessie would go after them, and he wanted a way to get Jessie out of the picture. He may have expected Jessie would get killed but not that Walter would save him. Think about it, Tomas was already involved in their gang. If theyre told they cant use him anymore, or until he were old enough, they'd probably feel they have to kill him because he knows too much.

That's an M60 Machine Gun in that trunk, most famously seen in Rambo: First Blood 2! Those started phasing out of the US Military in the 1990s for the M249 SAW. FYI About medical bills and lack of insurance. -- The government (usually State goverments) will pay for your care IF you have no money (and major assets like a house). The group that gets screwed in the US is the middle class and working poor. They don't have the money for expensive medical insurance, but they make 'too much' to qualify for government programs to pay for their care.
