One of the most subtle jokes is in this movie. When the dogs fly the in the airplanes, they mimic the Star Wars "Red leader standing by; Red 2 standing by, etc." but since they are dogs and can't see color, the dogs all say "Grey leader standing by; Grey two sanding by."

One of the reasons these movies are so explosively successful is because they TRULY are family movies. Stuff that is created for the full range of age demographics. A great reminder that things that are "child friendly" isn't necessarily a boring watch for adults.

I always cry during this film, wreaked in the first 10 minutes, and especially when carl finds out Ellie filled the rest of the book, likely on her death bed, knowing how much of a hole she was going to leave in his life because she knew him so deeply and completely. Yesss as an animator and a huge fan of animation I’m definitely here for these reactions!!! I think you’ll be surprised by how much you’ll enjoy the animated content you watch. A lot of people start watching animated content having this misconception that animation is a genre for children and that adults won’t enjoy, and then they’re pleasantly surprised surprised to find that that’s definitely not true. Remember animation is a medium, not a genre, and there can be animated content of any genre (comedy, horror, action, romance, etc). There’s some animated content that’s specifically not for children like The Simpsons, South Park, and more recently Hazbin Hotel. And even for most of the animated content that’s out there I wouldn’t categorize it as children’s content, I would say it’s more family content because the people involved usually do a really good job of making it as enjoyable for adults as it is for kids and this is a great example of that because like you said it deals with very deep and relatable themes. But anyway that’s all to say I’m always super happy to see people opening themselves up to animation and I’m very excited to see more of these reactions!! :)
@theCommentDevilАй бұрын
I love it because animation allows for more imagination, which in turn allows for deeper meaning. For millennia stories were spoken and left to the listeners imagination, because that's where the greatest stories take place. There was even an old meme where people would say that Pixar wrote a better love story in 10 minutes (the first 10 minutes of UP) than Twilight could in 3 books. It was obviously a dig at Twilight, but also kind of undermines the 10 minute love story. The entire movie is great, of course, but those first 10 minutes is something of an artistic achievement - you'd be hard pressed to get me to connect with characters so much that by the end of 10 minutes of knowing them I'd be crying my eyes out. It might be THE greatest 10-minute love story.

In the US, the prank goes back a few hundred years. Russell buys into it. However, the fake "snipe" turns out to be the very real Kevin after all!!

I agree with you at 59:00, subtitles shouldn't reveal a mysterious character, before they are established. Did you notice, Muntz didn't become the villain just for Carl and Russell? When he's showing Carl the old aviator helmets from the previous explorers, he's hinting that he murdered them too. He was paranoid that they were after the Snipe, and would ruin his legacy. I couldn't tell if you caught on to that.
