Hi Dr. Tobias, I'm just discovering your tutorials to help my husband with his Spasticity issues. I want to say thank you for providing instructions that I can use to help (or have him do by himself). He's had two strokes that affect his left side and vascular surgery on his left groin area. So now he's experiencing tightness from the surgery and the build up of scar tissue for lack of use along with spasticity. He's exercise 5 days a week that works on his lower leg (some hip movements) and with exercises I think that he'll get better. Thanks you again!
@rehabhqofficial5 жыл бұрын
Thank you for sharing your husband's story! Unfortunately surgeries after a stroke (although extremely necessary) do create some issues with stroke recovery. He is lucky to have you to help him. A physical therapist can also help with that scar tissue so hopefully he is still working with one :)

Merry Christmas Dr. Tobias ! I am very happy that I have found your channel and pray that it is discovered by everyone in need of the caliber of rehab expertise you offer here. God bless you abundantly and make you a blessing to all suffering from various painful ailments. Dr. I have MS since 1999 And last July I turned 50 : I stayed fairly healthy by God's grace over the years. Dr. I'm confused by what I was told by my physical therapist is called TONE that is a Force pulling me backwards to better explain this - - when my caregivers or anyone helping me stand they feel I'm " resisting" them.
@rehabhqofficial3 жыл бұрын
Hi Mark! Thank you for the kind words and for the excellent question. There are many reasons this happens. "Tone" is one reason caregivers may feel you are resisting them but it requires a lot more investigation to get to the root cause of this one. Sorry I could not be more helpful.

All that flattening of the hand/fingers & abduction of the thumb, will that help make wrist supination easier?
@rehabhqofficial4 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the delay. For some reason I miss some comments and just happen to find this one when I was answering another comment :). Yes, in my experience, abducting the thumb does help to get the hand and forearm muscles to relax which will allow you to supinate.

my stroke was about a year ago now and because I do have a very weak left arm I am wearing a functional orthesis for securing the shoulder joint, its called a neuro-lux II and even though it has helped a lot since I have had no pain, I find my muscles are becoming really tight so that I find a lot of the stretches impossible to do now, especially the overhead ones and am experiencing a lot of the problems you are mentioning. What I would really like to know should I be wearing this orthesis all the time ? I have also recently purchased the Saebo stim go which i saw on one of your videos for shoulder subluxuation and am hoping that will help . Any advice.? I love the videos and have learned so much since starting to watch them. And the different ideas how to make up different exercise equipment un some of your most recent videos was fantastic too.

Hi Doctor, I don't know whether my comment is useful or not but I really need help on this! Since 2 months i'm unable to lift equal weights with both hands,got x-ray done but there was nothing in the report,earlier when the problem started i wasn't even to lift even 7.5kgs but after that i followed complete precautions and started doing proper warmup before any exercise, gradually i was able to lift 10-12.5kg dumbbells with both hand but still i feel some discomfort in my left hand, yesterday got it checked with a physiotherapist and according to him that there is some upper limb nerve entrapment in muscles, caused or unrelated to a probable mild scoliotic curve in my spine. p.s :- the doctor has asked me to do a spine x-ray to know the cause of the issue and said if there is still nothing found in x-ray then ncb will be needed.

@rehabhqofficial5 жыл бұрын
wall push ups for a subluxation is not as good as this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pJnSiYNrqsp2aLs. In the "wall push up position" gravity will make it hard to prevent further subluxation (the arm is in a position to "drop down" out of the socket). I hope this helps.
