Spatial Personas on Apple Vision Pro - an absolute game changer!

Spatial personas are an absolute game changer for remote collaboration! 😱 Here's Matt Hoerl and I experimenting with 3D models from www.beautifulthings.xyz using Shareplay.
3 reasons this is a must try if you have a Vision Pro:
1. Apple solved the design challenge of how to make the location of virtual people across different physical environments make sense. Moving screens around moves the whole play space!
2. Spatial audio makes it sound like the person is actually where they are relative to you, adding to the immersion.
3. Shareplay works seamlessly across most (if not all?) apps. Browsing Safari, using Freeform, etc. with the Spatial Persona next to you is like you have a ghost version of your friend in the room.

Now that more people finally see how game changing it is to have tech that puts far-apart people together in the same room and how real it feels, I hope in the future when digital renderings of people are completely realistic we don't separate them with virtual barriers. The true game changer for social XR will be when all platforms can interact together.

Update just started going out today. Make an ordinary FaceTime call to someone else with a Vision Pro and a button will pop up on their display window to bring their Avatar into your environment. You can collaborate on tasks together, watch things together, walk around and look at each other eye to eye.

The future of collaboration is still asynchronous. Basically has been since the invention of writing. Personas are as important for work as it is to be able to see people while talking to them. And how important is that? Not very, at least for productivity. There have been studies showing that fatigue goes up and productivity goes down for workers who were required to turn on their webcams for meetings. Might be neat for family calls but I'm not going to get my grandma on this thing. And it's not going to make me miss them any less. So, eh.

It feels like we are still in the confusion phase of XR technology, even though they have already been in the research space for decades. So many people panic about the isolation in this thing in totally non-analytical way and now when steps in the direction of collaboration are made this should be bad as well?

@@ozymandias_yt I am not sure if your response was meant for my comment. Do I express fears of isolation by the headset? If anything, I argue against the perceived value of synchronous collaboration in XR. But my angle is more about increase of productivity than making connections. As with Zoom, productivity decreases past a low threshold of meeting volume.

@@RasenRambo23 My point is that spatial personas are a (partial) solution for isolation in the Vision Pro, but you stated that it is too much collaboration now. Your argument about fatigue isn’t invalid, so I realised the criticism about the Vision Pro is very fragmented and every direction Apple is going with this product is seen as a mistake. This is very similar to the beginning of other product categories, where the „nobody needs this“ mentality was around as well, because the new possibilities weren’t explored. The reaction to the Vision Pro is either a) blind hype b) doomerism c) disbelief in usefulness
