I also had the violator toy. Somehow it wound up being used as a Christmas tree decoration at my Mom’s house. I think it’s because we were too poor to afford real decorations so my mom baked a bunch of oranges and peppers to harden them so we could hang them on the tree. She also let me and my siblings hang our toys on the tree as well. Our tree was covered with fruit, gi joes, alien action figures and of course spawn and the violator. Pretty cool tree in the end....

@erikbrock54445 жыл бұрын
I think they could make a good PG-13 Spawn movie if they wanted to. The problem with most of the action and horror movies that get a PG-13 these days is that they didn't start out as PG-13. instead they take scripts that were clearly meant to be r rated movies and dim them down until they can get past the MPAA with PG-13. On the other hand, both infinity war and endgame had some pretty graphic violence(Loki gets choked to death while turning blue and veiny, those devil dog things get their skin burned off going through the barrier, Thanos gets his arm chopped off, etc) but managed to get by with a PG-13 and still be really good. If they started out aiming for PG-13 from the word go with Spawn, they could totally do it justice.
@JohnDoe-wq5eu5 жыл бұрын
@@erikbrock5444 Just out of curiosity did you know there was an R rated "version" of the Spawn movie?! Well there is and it's pretty bad. Essentially I guess that was during the time that the MPAA thought any movie that had too much time in darkness would automatically get an R rating. (It's kind of confusing there's an interview on the r-rated version where Todd McFarlane talks about it and it's really weird) I mean basically nothing else has changed there's just a lot more scenes in darkness. It's a real wasted opportunity.

@@JohnDoe-wq5eu I had all the toys and recorded the movie off PPV with a VCR. Of course I know about the extended cut. :p I agree, that falls under the umbrella of catering to a rating in the editing room when it should be done in preproduction. Taking a finished PG-13 movie and trying to make it R usually works about as well as taking an r-rated movie and trying to make it PG-13. You have to make the movie you're making, not the movie you wish you were making. Overall, whether we're talking about the extended version or the theatrical version, it's a decent movie for the time and for what it is, but it does deserve a remake, and I hope the one that's supposedly in the works now does the material justice.

Don't know if you notices, but in most episodes they usually have the person most familiar with the subject guide and almost host the review. So most likely it was planned that way from the start. I think it helps give the reviews a bit more substances and makes them more watchable, because I rather watch someone who is super passionate about something talk about it than someone who vaguely remembers it or doesn't really have any experiences or isn't really knowledgeable about it. You also gotta remember, the most important part of these reviews (at least IMO), isn't just to talk about what they thought about the movie but also what they remember about when it came out or any nostalgic experiences they have with it. Lastly, I believe they said in a previous video that they take turns picking out the movies and while they all do watch the movie and add to it, the person who picks it is one who "guides" or directs it (in a loose manner, since most of their conversation is ad-libbed and off the cuff comments). So I'm guessing Tony might have been the one who picked this one out.

@Marcelo Naveira I kind of like it. He is enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the subject (Spawn) and that makes him exited like a puppy about to pee himself.

Spawn and blade were one of my favorite movies I've watched when I was a kid both of those movies Even though the CGI hasn't aged that well they still hold up as the definitive rare gems as the years progressed

This movie is similar to Jumanji, in the sense that they just need to re-release a "Special Edition" with updated CGI. Also, the soundtrack for Spawn was actually a very cool concept - creating mashups with rock bands and hip-hop/electronic acts. You guys should definitely give it a listen!

This is the second time it's come up this week for me. Weird. "The Maxx" was never on Liquid Television. It was on MTV's Oddities block. That's where "The Maxx", "The Head", "Brothers Grunt" and most importantly "Celebrity Death Match" premiered.

Spawn is one of the most underrated comicbook character EVER! I mean, seriously the character has a badass design, cool story, and a great atsmosphere. The character is right there to pick him up and make a great videogame or movie. But sadly over the years he didn't have the love that deserves. I hope his inclution in Mortal Kombat 11 be the beginning of his popularity again.

Todd McFarlane did the animation for the HBO series, and also did animation for Pearl Jam's Do the Evolution, Korn's Freak on a Leash, and Disturbed's rendition of Land of Confusion.
