A couple of my subtitles were actually 2 different subtitles juxtaposed, because I found that putting a shadow on them during TTC made them easier to read, but the shadow looked weird anywhere else. So what you saw was simply a result of me catching the typo in one of them, but no the other

So basically, what you're saying is that depending on where you die on a rotating platform, it can influence your spawn point. I assume this is because when mario dies, the camera points in the spot he died, but the camera does not focus on mario himself. When mario respawns, I believe it tries to take him from the spot the camera went to, but mario is slightly off of this area, so it takes him a bit off where he should be? Just what i got from the video. Pretty cool!

I was just thinking of something... Can Mario teleport? What if you have a pre set HOLP to where you want Mario to end up, do a hat in hand glitch and clone a chuckya, then get grabbed by the same chuckya? Wouldn't Mario release the chuckya which would appear at the HOLP, but it's holding Mario so would he teleport there too?

So I found a glitch on SM64 that allows you to have a fixed position camera in the area outside of BBH and the area outside the castle. I couldn't find a way to find this inside the castle. I'm not sure if this has already been found, though.

That "can start a new game from not the default location" thing is really interesting. Generally speaking on N64 runs it doesn't matter what's on the files you're not using as long as you start from a new game file (Like in Diddy Kong Racing you can use T.T. from the beginning because he's unlocked for the whole cartridge, not the save file). So in theory one could use this glitch in a speedrun, TAS or otherwise, to get a sort of "head start" if there were a way to displace you in a way that would save time. You'd just die on one file, then start a new one. Course, generally M64 runs are started from "on reset" so maybe not, if you go with that rule. I'm also curious about how that affects the "jumping out of the pipe" animation at the beginning. During the initial animation, is Mario loaded into RAM already (But not visible)? Or does he only load after the full initial cut scene is done and the pipe comes out of the ground? What would happen if the displacement stuck you INSIDE another loading zone? If Mario is already loaded when the cutscene starts and you could displace him far enough to enter the castle, you could theoretically skip the intro cutscene. Though it doesn't seem like there's anything that can displace Mario very far.

Theoretically yes. But the range of spawning displacements is very small, and so I don't believe any of the objects yield a big enough displacement to reach that far

Hey; does this meand we can use HOLP to make a throwable block spawn high in the sky like in WF fro the second star? and Ride it for spawning displacement? Even though it's not rotating; it might be able to move fast enough to get us in the Secret aquarium if it doesn't have a cap on it's speed. Or better yet use reverse spawning displacement and HOLP to setup giant warps; and even save TTC re-enter presses. There's gotta be a non VC only way into the Aquarium.

Could you travel to a spinning platform in a PU and use the correspondingly massive displacement to displace Mario to a favorable position to save an "A" press? Do spinning platforms function that way in PUs?

PUs have no objects in them, and thus, no rotating platforms. Even if they did, though, I doubt it would work. PUs exist because of overflow/underflow errors in floor and wall detection, so that the game thinks Mario is standing on a floor when he isn't. If there were a PU version of an object, spawning displacement would probably just use the main universe's object as the reference point, since that game would think he's on that one.

Even better, is there a way to combine this with VSP/HSP conservation? The right displacement, along with the right speed conservation might just be enough to get us a star.

No, unfortunately. The falling blocks require exiting a stage, since the death animation takes too long. While the insane speed of the pyramid top might seem good, it is only horizontal speed, making it useless without vertical.

@pannenkeok2012 How much investigating have you done on the Eel in JRB? If its AI could be abused to put it into weird places, then it could be possible to get some much needed knockback to gain height.

No investigation on the eel. That seems like something that would be better done by someone who knows how to look into the code. But also, knockback can't be used to gain height

Can you use spawning displacement in Shifting Sand Lands from the rotating pyramid top to save the two A button presses when you enter the pyramid? That is a long shot, because from what I can tell, it only displaces you when you exit the level. You can't instantly get from the pyramid platform to inside the pyramid.

I think I tried that once, and it turned out the pyramid top is overwritten by some other object inside the pyramid

pannenkeok2012 Ah, that is unfortunate. That would have been so perfect. Except for spawn displacement only working on the Japanese version. Is it true that the European version is would allow the exact same strats as the North American version, just with different input timings since the game runs at 50fps?

So how does the one frame in TTC work? Does it pretty much go "So the star was at this location, he was on the spinner, compared to where the star should be, we'll spawn him HERE! And spawns him lower"?

Does this work with a rotating chuckya holding Mario instead of a rotating platform? Since Mario moves with chuckya while he's being held, it seems similar enough to how platforms function. I dunno.

You could probably die in chuckya's hands due to death barrier proximity, an out-of-bounds deathclip, or something else like that. I just figure it would extremely useful if this glitch worked with chuckya, since he can be moved around and his object slot manipulated as-needed.

Well actually, Mario doesn't move when chuckya's turning. The real Mario is invisible where he got grabbed, while chuckya's just holding Mario's physical form. That's why the out of body glitch can occur

What will happen if mario spawns on a falling brick? Do mario spawn in midair or directly on the falling brick beacuse theres no stable ground on his feet? This can probably glitch out. Can be used with Luigi
