i have an original system, and I have a Xbox One X (GOW 5 edition, first time owning a x1) and PS4 Pro as well as N2DS XL. and last gen (360 and Wii U) systems...and Phone (Galaxy) and desktop PC (Asus All-in-one, 2016 model) among others...including somewhere a Vita Slim collecting dust lol. So at this point I've owned the "OG" (original) Red/blue bundled switch. for about 2 years...and thing is 1) I never cared about IR/HD rumble (hell even during the 4-5th gen of consoles w/ the N64) era...late 90s/early 2000s - I never cared about the rumble pak then (before HD rumble, when it was just....rumble lol) 2) I dont care about the dock (my dock literally sits in a drawer with my X360 and Wii U unhooked collecting dust) no point to sell it, but also no point in using it...as 99% of my gaming on the Switch is indies and platformers (both AAA and indies) and the occasional first party nintendo exclusive (Octopath, Xenoblade, you know Breath of the Wild, etc) ...only BOTW = was the only game that so far I've used the DOCK/TV play for...and even then (220 hours of play) I only put...maybe 100 hours on the dock/TV play (using the default HDMI that comes w/ the system). But all the rest of my gaming...indie, including Binding of isaac (over 1,300 hours lol) among others....i play table-top + Hori table-top stand + the smash bros pro controller (which is like the xenoblade pro controller has the central pivot added underneath the d-pad, to make it a proper dpad, not that I care, cause I dont use d-pad that much, but its nice to have). I used handheld first 9-10 months of owning system...2017 into 2018...then by end of 2018 when the Super Smash Bros Ultimate launched in december along w/ the new pro controller, I got my hands on a copy, and I went straight table-top ever since. and the system sits under my TV (on the TV stand) but only 1 foot from my bed, so I can literally rise out of bed, grab pro controller, push the SLEEP/HOME button andturn system on, and it has the AC adapter plugged directly into system...the dock & HDMI sit in a drawer collecting dust (alongside my last gen X360 and Wii U also unhooked and collecting dust). So basically the switch is a table-top-exclusive-indie-gaming-device. I dont worry about battery life, and/or kick stand (cause it stays on the table-top) and its only 1 foot from my face when I'm sitting upright in bed...I can sit in bed, and game in table-top mode w/ pro controller so its easy... I do however (after owning the system for nearly 2 years) and I have a few other accessories outside of the HORI table top stand and PRo controller, the only other 2 accessories I have are: 200GB Micro SD (SanDisk) which I haven't even begun to fill it up, so memory isn't an issue either)....and lastly I got well its not an accessory its just the NSO (Nintendo Switch Online Service) ...and I didnt get it for the vintage games, I got it solely for the Cloud storage. which I think should have been free, but oh well. $20 isnt much. SO I want a second / cheaper / bang around system that is solely a handheld (for short-travel) here n there (which I do quite often)...I may be the RARITY here, the small % of those who have an OG switch and STILL want the Lite...but I have my reasons...and its not related to "children" whatsoever. I realize thats prob the main reason for owning it...that makes sense...but for me, having a back-up system that you know...is cheaper, bang-around, don't have to baby it "as much" ( still gonna take care of it naturally ) but...the fear of it getting scuffed ...well you know not as big of a deal And its nice that the SATISFYE company (my nephew has the Pro gaming grip along w/ the carrying case) he got last christmas for his regular switch) and they have already unrolled/unveiled a PRO LITE Grip along with a carrying case for the Switch Lite. and its not much $...so its like...I can get the Lite, and now a grip (which will make it an even MORE proper handheld) and a carrying case.... I know the Switch revision (the one w/ the red box-art) has a longer battery life then BOTH the OG switch and Switch lite, I get that...but again - I'm not going on 7-9 hour road trips every week...but I am using a handheld a few times per month, for a few hours (2-3 here, 2-3 there) and the Lite = being a lighter weight, single-body, design...with a PROPER d-pad, and now a Satisfye gaming grip + bundled carrying case (and I've felt/used the original before...so I know what I'm getting into) I dont care about the in-ear-buds, and the shitty thumb-stick attachments, I only want the Pro Grip (the main unit) and the pro carrying case...thats it. And as for the $ aspect...well people are talking about $200 + tax (which here in maryland is 6%) so basically it would be out of store a total of = $211.99 with tax. Well I have 2 gift cards from my birthday (I turned 36 back in March...) and at my age, you don't get fancy gifts, or ...any gifts lol you get a card, with some plastic in it lol which is fine, Visa Gold Pre-paid gift cards...and being...I didn't want anything back in March/April/May and I owned basically all the hardware/software I wanted...and nothing else in my life I could think of...I just held onto both cards (1 is worth $75 even, and the other 2nd card is worth $25 even) neither have been used. So I can walk into a Gamestop, or Best Buy, Target, Walmart Super Center, or the local ma&pa retailer "Gamerz Paradise" (they are a local 1-store retailer only...they are inside an Amish Market, which has numerous vendors/stores) Gamerz Paradise is one of them. they buy/sell/trade games (discs, cartridges, mini discs, any system you can think of going back to the original Atari 2600 to present day Xbox One and PS4 and N. Switch. Not to mention PC physical (from past games) and figures/toys related to gaming and a pokemon TCG (card) selection. Basically anything hobbyist/gaming related. So...I can use these cards anywhere....so $211 (tax included) you might as well knock $100 off the top...your looking at me walking out of the (whatever store) having only paid ALITTLE more then $100 for the system (to be exact basically $111) lol...thats less then the New 2DS XL costs even. I realize not everyone has a gift card or multiple cards ready and waiting, most people dont, but this is why I say..for me...my reasons...its an easy choice. New lighter weight system w/ proper d-pad, and what I'm hearing is "more durable feeling...since its a single body...feels quite nice, and surprising....and even the screen could possibly be a few "nits" brighter (peak brightness) ...mostly everything is the same, minus slight increase to battery life ..which isn't much but STILL...these are minor changes and upgrades..and for what ? a system I can buy for UNDER $150 w/ my gift cards ...$110 - $111 w/ tax for a new system...thats an easy pill to swallow. And of course, something (god forbid, but eventually it does happen to most devices) they brick...my Switch OG is already 2 (almost) years old...another year, another 2 years...a few more thousand hours (possibly) ....who is to say It wont happen anytime...and I take care of it (its never been dropped, or in extreme weather conditions) but still...you just never know...so it would be kinda cool to have something as a backup be it 1 year, or 2 years or whatever...of course the only issue / stick in my plans...(spokes) ...is if Nintendo unveils / announces in (sometime 2020) a "Switch XL Pro" or "Switch XL" variant of some sort....lol I can see it now....eh...but then I would prob just sell my OG switch, get whatever I can back from that...and IF its worth it, then I'll get the new[er] switch. Thats all, quite simple. But I can completely understand someone not wanting the Lite, or having 0 interest..esp if they already own a version of the system (the OG switch or the recent revision/red boxed system) thats fine, no hate here - not trying to convince anyone or anything. I just think the Lite may have more then "1" reason to buy, thats all

I've seen a lot of people being perplexed by the chamber that the speaker sits in. The chamber and channel/tube that is connected to the speaker is called and transmission line and it acts as a ported box which allows the manufacturer to tune the sound based on the volume and length of the chamber. The sound waves resonate in the tube and based on the length of the tube you can tune it to perform better at certain frequecies and smooth out the sound signature. If you google image search "Transmission Line speaker" youll see lots of images of speaker boxes with similar squiggly ports leading from the speaker to the outside. You could do the same thing with a long straight tube but then it would be a very big assembly so the "tube" is "folded" on itself to make it easier to package.

The only reason I don’t want it is because of drift, I mean I always buy joycons since I prefer those but with my OG switch I can get new joycons or use a pro controller with a tv, if I’m going to use a normal controller I want it to be big, if I’m holding the switch with joycons then I get to move the switch if I want to get a closer look and if I have a controller I can get a bigger screen to make up for the lack of not being able to move it, I’d be fine if it didn’t drift but this thing will definitely be drifting like my OG joycons soon.

Something you missed on the speaker case. There’s a “tube” going from the top upwards, back down and curved outward. Tubing is a trick used to amplify bass. So it seems the case is a two way case. That’s pretty cool.

I'm impressed with the build quality. It feels very solid, much moreso than my old Switch. I do very much prefer the screen on the original though. I'm trying to decide if I'm keeping the Lite or giving it to my kids, I think I'll give it to them since it seems so much more sturdy and I like the bigger screen. Don't care about hdmi out, we used the old one as a handheld only anyway. This is a glorious day though no matter which one I keep, no more fighting for Switch time with my son! Now if they would only give us a decent way of handling accounts on multiple Switches. The current way fucking sucks, but I've heard that with the release of the lite they're working on a better solution.

It's a crapping thing Nintendo did. They should have made new and improved joycons a long time ago (I heard they have new colors, not sure if they changed the analog stick on those though) and set the switch lite to a later date to fix that also. They ignored the issue so long to the point they were sued. My 3ds lasted years before I sold it and it was still in great condition. I want a switch/lite but want to invest in something I know will actually last. They went downhill on those joycons and now possibly the lite. So disappointed.😓
@thewoosp27825 жыл бұрын
First joy con drift issue got fixed in UK no worries (right analogue). Moved to Indonesia for work, dropped switch and broke shoulder button. Went to Singapore and bought a set of red joy con. Red were later release, thought I dodged the drift batch. Bummed.

So Ive been watching a few people take this as well as the "new" switch apart and they all seem to agree they changed the sticks from the original switch. There is a little divet added inside at the base of the stick that is assumed to hold it better from drifting. The original is smooth where the new switch and sqitch lite have the divet

Very good Taking Apart vid Jon(SW). The Switch Lite i still think isn't worth getting if you already have a Switch outside of being a Collector or Handheld Gamer or Younger Gamer. No Rumble at all is a bummer and the D-Pad isn't the best for Fighting Games due too the low profile of the D-Pad, makes it inconsistent which is ashame.

Hiya, I sincerely appreciate you pointing out the air intake vents being that the one on the right is blocked off(?) 3:40 for some reason by design on this Lite model. My wife has the exact color you used on this teardown and I was wondering why it got so warm while she played for the hours of ACNH until it needed a recharge. I checked the back as you did and noticed the same difference for the air intakes compared to a regular Switch model we have here as well, and was curious if the Lite was badly assembled. Considering yours was the same, I guess not... Tell me if yours gets as warm during use as I almost called Nintendo to request an RMA for nothing until I remembered to watch this again today to help shed light on the situation.

Not that I think they would do it, consodering they advertised the switch lite as "handheld only". But would it be possible for Nintendo to make a dock for the lite containing the missing hardware for the video out? The processor and ram and all that stuff is the same, its still capable of producing the information that is displayed when in docked mode. Say they do a system update for the lite that would tell the system to output as if in docked mode, but use usb-c to communicate this information. Or maybe even a semi docked mode, where it runs at 720 still to save bandwith? Once again, I doubt Nintendo would do this.
