In a bit of a twist, it appears an emulator has broken onto the scene in an official release onto the Apple's App Store. Of course there's more to the story with a lot of questions coming up around the legitimacy of the app itself and what this could mean for the future of emulation on the App Store.

i don't blame the actual dev for being angry about this situation. there's no official avenue for that app's successor where he lives - delta - but someone rips off his work from high school, & is both making a profit from it & tracking people for no good reason, & apple approves it for their store.

Pokemon Stadium on NSO doesn't support the transfer pak anyway, the only way to get the full experience is through original hardware that doesn't work anymore because of dead save batteries or emulators.

Man this old button overlay for that emulator in the thumbnail really brings back nostalgia from the early days of having jailbroken iphone 4 & ipod touch with Cydia back in the day. That was actually my first experience with emulation on mobile phones so this is really awesome to see it come full circle officially even as someone who hasn't had an iphone since iPhone 4. I specifically remember having the same controller overlays as the thumbnail here and even figuring out how to edit said overlay to customize it for fun. PSP was my first experience with "jailbreaking", followed by iPod Touch, and later iPhone 4. This was during my HS years (class of 2010). I even wrote some guides for jailbreaking PSP & iPod Touch at this time for a now defunct tech blog called AllTechRelated. These were some great memories of mine 🤙❤

Bro… Delta was created by Riley Truscot. He did use gba4ios. But he made it his own. He made it possible to side-load to the iPhone without jailbreaking. The dude is a legend. He is possibly the reason Apple decided to allow emulators.

I’ve had Gameboy emulators that run through Google Drive on my iPhone since 2012 or so. It’s an app on the iPhone that connects to my drive for the roms. I’ve intentionally never deleted it because I’m worried it’ll stop working 😂 I check every few months and it works fine.

Lol, what kind of forward thinking would it be if Nintendo approached Apple, and said, help us, help you, to help us. Allow emulation, so we can sue the socks off multiple emulators, make a boat load of money, examples out of people, and it will also support your case for the security provided by a closed Apple Ecosystem. The courts will set precedence, and put an end to all of the anti-consumer complaints and our crusade against piracy, helping us both!

For the record, real GBA4iOS isn't hard to get ahold of at all. I use Altstore but if you're running the right device and version to use Trollstore that'll be the option you want to use. Delta is by the same developer and supports more systems but GBA4iOS is a better GB/C/A emulator (Delta lack s link support, for starters)
