I don't get why some people don't agree with Sasuke's decision. Why would Sasuke protect the Leaf after finding out the truth? If you just found out that your brother was played by the government you don't go to them and shake their hands. Him wanting revenge and kill the higher ups and Danzo for giving Itachii his mission is a human and normal response. Yeah, Itachi did it himself but let's not act like if it wasn't for Danzo this would even happen since he went by the 3rd hokage's back without his approval. It was either the massacre of Uchiha clan or civil war ripping apart the Leaf Village and death of many many more. Well I worked in translation for a long time and I do have to say, outside of legal documents, any translator who values literacy of original language over weight of meaning is just a shitty translator who could easily be replaced in a couple of years by Google Translate. Anyone can look up a Japanese-English dictionary and decide that the kanji used would mean "This is it", but only a good translator who understands the story he is translating and character who is speaking would know that the sentence is an obvious payoff for all the times the character said "Maybe next time", and translate it to "This is the last time" or "There won't be a next time"

Only Sasuke beat an Akatsuki nin without any intel I can tell by your username that you're a little biased towards Sasuke and are probably a troll, but Itachi using the Tsukuyomi on him does not justify any of his actions. They live in a ninja world. I'm pretty sure that going through multiple pains is an everyday thing. Sasuke is hated by a margin of fans because of his hardheadedness which is more than Naruto's at times. He focusses on an objective, without thinking it through, he is so fixated on it that he's prepared to kill his teammates. What does 'I'm going to be Hokage' mean? It means that he suddenly wanted to become leader of a village he tried to destroy.

Rain spoilers If you actually tried to understand his character and not superficially judge it you would understand why he makes all those choices.. and all his decisions are well planned.. right from going to orochimaro to killing itachi.. he did lose his way for a while when he learnt the truth but got back in track after meeting itachi again.. He did not decide to be the hokage in the spur of the moment.. he revived the 4 hokages to see their perspective.. they all acknowledged they had made a lot of mistakes in their lifetime which ultimately culminated to the 4th shinobi war.. they taught the will of fire but themselves failed to follow it and created a lot of hate and unrest esp. among the uchihas.. That's when he decided he wanted to make a change so that this does not happen.. and the best way is by being the leader.. But partly I think it's because kishi always had wanted a final show down between naruto and sasuke.. the fans were looking forward to it as well.. if sasuke had decided to side with the leaf then we would have never got the fight of the century after they dealt with madara..

"Hebi" = Snake. "Taka" = Hawk. Also... The hidden village essentially forced Itachi to murder his entire family. Sasuke was in the forefront of that tragedy for over half of his life and now he realizes it will follow him FOREVER. People often forget about this detail, but, right now, he is still just 15 or 16 at most! No wonder he wants to murder some f*ckers.

Don't get me wrong, I also think Konoha's leadership were full of pricks, but, despite many Uchiha being treated unfairly and, indeed, quite a bit of racism or prejudice was being served to the older generations of the Uchiha because of the crimes of Madara... But it's not like the Uchiha is completely out of the blame for this. I don't care what their reason was, instead of protesting peacefully(which they had many chances of doing so), the Uchiha basically wanted to start a CIVIL WAR. And it's not like the Uchiha were being persecuted that much. Itachi was the star child of his class and the Uchiha held a respectable militar position in the leaf. Also, don't forget that quite a lot of Uchihas wanted to push Fugaku Uchiha (Sasuke's dad) to start the coup because they elected Minato instead of him. Even though Minato and Fugaku were both acknowledged by their accomplishments in the war, Minato was probably best suited for the Hokage position anyway. Even Fugaku said so himself. He also said he was against it but was pressured it by most of the clan. Some of them would probably have their heads so far up their arses that they had some kind of arian-ish type of complex about their eyes, and, even though I'm sure not everyone thought like that, a it would still a significant bunch of the clan. (Can you blame them, though? Sharingan is, like, the coolest thing to have in Naruto's universe). So, yeah, the Uchiha Clan WERE full of pricks, but I never said they were ALL pricks. But that side of the clan was part of why Itachi despised his clan so much (Enough for him to feel disgust about his own bloodline). The Uchihas were indeed being shunned by Konoha's shot callers... But, if the Uchihas hadn't planned the Coup, it wouldn't be entirely unlikely if someone like Fugaku or Itachi were appointed to be Hokage once Danzo(the main prick getting in the way) passed away out of old age. Itachi would be the wisest, most skilled and trusted shinobi with a pacifist mindset that would give him major points with Konoha and other nations. People like Kakashi, Sarutobi and many others would surely support someone like Itachi. And only people strictly driven by prejudice would be in the way, which, in a Konoha raised being protected by the Uchiha, would be the minority.

It's not that the Leaf was oppressing the Uchiha that Sasuke has turned against them. It is because he has devoted his entire life to killing Itachi over a lie. He has just fought and killed Itachi and all because of a lie. So the Leaf has had his mother and father and all his relatives killed and then they have lied to him causing him to kill his own brother. Fun facts: 1. Earlier back when Pain was explaining things to Hidan, he listed various reasons why ninja would engage in battle (lowkey why the members joined the Akatsuki). When he mentioned "philosophy", the camera panned to Itachi, coinciding with the teachings Itachi adopted from the Leaf and his own aversion to warfare. 2. Remember Sasuke's fight with Gaara in the latter's mutant form way back in Part 1? During that fight, Sasuke was reflecting on his past and he actually concluded that Itachi couldn't handle the guilt of slaughtering his own clan so he left Sasuke to live on and avenge his clan. 3. Itachi's birthday is June 9, which falls under Gemini, and man does he fit that sign! But I'll leave the interpretations to everyone else. Anyways, everything from Sasuke's fateful battle against Itachi to the end of Tobi's revelation to him is one hell of a turning point for Sasuke! And now just like Orochimaru once planned to, Sasuke's now after the Leaf too, go figure!

OKAY. TIME TO EXPLAIN. Sasuke has decided to destroy the leaf because he views it as the evil that stole his brother, and his entire clan from him. He isn't honouring Itachi's will, he's exacting revenge. Revenge, the thing his brother taught him to use for most of his life. Itachi wouldn't be happy with this, but Sasuke isn't Itachi. That was Itachi's ultimate failure. Itachi made this whole plan to save Sasuke and the leaf but did so on the presumption that Sasuke held his same values, while also replacing what value there was with revenge. Itachi wanted to die evil so Sasuke could go on in peace, but by Madara telling him the truth, Sasuke goes back to his brother's biggest lesson: revenge and hatred is strength. You seem to get it, but most don't. Also, Taka= Snake, Hebi=Hawk. E: reverse that.

I literally stated what happened in the series. If you view otherwise then you're denying the truth. How was the rebellion not justified? During the warring states era, the Uchiha overcame their beef with their biggest enemies - the Senju, and united. Establishing Konoha & the village system. Which other nations copied. Afterward, they faithfully protected Konoha for generations, til they were oppressed for a crime that they didn't even commit. After years of persecution, including being pushed out of the same village they dedicated their lives to protect, the Uchiha decided to rebel against Konoha's leadership. As a result they were ordered to be killed off by one of their own, who then had to live the rest of his life as a hated criminal. While his brother and everyone else remained ignorant of the truth that was hidden away. Danzo was behind the persecution. Sasuke going after the Hidden Leaf will make sense later on when you get introduced to more characters and the rolls they played. His goal isn't just to destroy it in the way Orochimaru wanted to and that becomes clear much later.

The actual quote isn't what the bad dub gave you by Itachi in his last moment. It is, "I'm sorry Sasuke, but there is no next time". It ties in because he always says "next time Sasuke" before tapping his head.

Yep, Curtis that's the actual truth of itachi. It's not just a scheme to manipulate Sasuke. Now you see just why Itachi is so loved by fans of Naruto. There's even more you get to see later in the series which opens up even more on his personal problems and life and hardships. Those episodes hit just as hard as this one and I can't wait till you get to them. Youll really REALLY love Itachi after those episodes. Easily became a huge fan favorite in a lot of fans

SPOILERS: Last warning ;) Okay, there is actually only 1 lie in Madara's speech these past 2 episodes, and that is that "the Uchiha had nothing to do with the Kyuubi attack". He himself set the fox on the village, and even had his Sharingan shining through it's eyes so everyone would know it was the an Uchiha doing it. Basically, after a long time it seemed like the Uchiha were actually being accepted and respected, so Madara had to stir a little bit the flames of the old hatred to get things to the point they got with Itachi. Tobi is most certainly not a good boy.

I can understand why Sasuke made the decision he made. Konoha's leadership kept the Uchiha down for generations, slowly but surely pushing them towards a coup. Then Konoha gave Itachi the order to massacre the Uchiha and solve the very problem they themselves had a hefty part in creating. The Uchiha aren't without blame in this, of course, and the entire situation is a mess in general. But that Sasuke views the village as the root of this tragedy and the Uchiha, especially Itachi, as the victim is very understandable. Many people don't agree with the path Sasuke is taking and dislike it, but it's not entirely unreasonable to make these choices.

It's true.... I don't like Sasuke's decision either.... But at the same time, I cannot fault him for it either. The fact of the matter is that in this "Uchiha" business, neither side is innocent. Also it took some careful manipulation and possible half truths to turn Sasuke against the Leaf. I would like to also point out some small details, but that goes into spoiler territory, so instead.... In short, it's sad how Sasuke went from a happy kid, to a dangerous terrorist over the course of his messed up life... All because of the dark side of the bloodthirsty war called politics.

Sasuke became a terrorist like many others even in real life. You have a family wiped out by a nation's bombing, the 2 survivors go on with say one trying to advocate peace and avoid violence , then bang he's gunned down by a drone and the 16 year old kid gets picked up by some unsavory group , told about his oppressors, and decides he wants revenge even if that is counter to what his brother was preaching before death. Sasuke is honestly the most realistic character in naruto, he aint perfectly written, but he certainly is written as if he is real.

Sasuke’s mission to destroy the village isn’t about taking revenge because of what happened to his clan. His only mission before all this was to kill itachi for slaughtering the clan, hearing the truth throws his whole reality out of wack. Sasuke’s reasoning is that the village used and put such a burden on his beloved older brother THAT HE JUST KILLED. Sasuke thinks that they should pay for making his brother kill his family and for making him live his life as a criminal, that and he just awakened a new sharingan which elevates even more emotions.

Imagine if itachi had somehow remained in the village. He’s super loyal, intelligent and takes the initiative to get the job done. His diseased could’ve most likely been treated, or even cured by tsunade; he’d be even more powerful than he was now, potentially the strongest character in the village when against other ninjas. In my opinion the leaf made a misstep here; I think they could’ve set up another patsy in his place, like to be honest Itachi would’ve made a great fifth or sixth hokage
