Obito's character really takes a step forward from here on. You get to see why he's doing what he's doing and what his feelings are. You also see the conflict building with him talking to Naruto and Kakashi even though he himself is the enemy and could be fighting them instead.

It's just a sad state to be in man. The 1 person you ever cared about enough to love is dead and nothing can bring them back. In your eyes the circumstances of the world's structure itself is the cause so what do you do? Agree to help someone who also wants to rewrite what reality is, and stop caring who has to get hurt along the way because none of it will matter in the end so long as you achieve what you've set out to do. Besides which no time has passed as far as Rin aging so she'd have come back as a kid after Obito had already aged. and there's no guarantee she wouldn't have died again at some point anyway. That's why Obito wants a more perfect world where everything isn't subject to disaster like that.

Kakashi has to be one of my favorite characters because of how much he endured his sensei died and then he had naruto as a student the spitting image of his sensei and when naruto could use the rasengan looked even more like minato and how he had the same dream as obito and said the same thing “I’m the future hokage” that has to be hard for kakashi and before all this all his comrades and family died he had nobody until team 7 you could argue the other jonin but he wasn’t really close to them the only one would be might guy

Obito is one of the most complex yet great characters and so is Kakashi. I believe that out of all the parallels in Naruto, Naruto-Sasuke, Jiraiya-Orochimaru, Madara-Hashirama, Kakashi-Obito is the best parallel since the 'genius' is the one who is good and the 'fool' is the one who has gone bad. In all the other parallels, it is the opposite. Kakashi-Obito had the saddest fate of them all.

It doesn't lol. He outright says it three freaking times. How much more spoon feeding does your mind require? I get it. Obito did the eye of the moon plan because he got friendzoned by Rin, haha. Famous meme. However, that's not his motivation? Like at all? It was simply that Rin's death along with Madara's psychological manipulation was the last straw that broke him. In case you don't realize, Obito faced ostracization and feeling of ineptness all his life. Simply because he was an orphan Uchiha, who wasn't as skilled. He wasn't some Uber tier prodigy like Sasuke or Itachi. He was a very simple, idealistic and impressionable kid with a very one dimensional goal and much similar to Naruto, it was simply because he not only needed validation for who and what he is (it's more than just validation, it's also about his identity as a person, hence why as Obito he keeps reminding everyone that he's Obito Uchiha and one day, he'll awaken his Sharingan.) For crying out loud, the kid just became a Chunin and was drafted into a freaking war as a child soldier. Pretty sure he's seen death up close. His point really isn't oh hey Rin died, better fuck up the world. No. From where he stood, the world was a shit hole and as a kid, we see that he is an extremely helpful individual, to him, Eye of the Moon Plan is supposed to "help" everyone escape the problem with the world. A world without child soldier, a world where you can fulfill your goals, where there's no violence or pain for humanity, etc. He simply views the world as a cruel place and his comments on reality is very cynical (yet realistic) until his mask falls off at what point they're "absurd". Which is the damn point. It seems like Obito is an absurdist; an absurdist being someone who see's bonds and human relationships as suffocating (cause they only bring you pain and suffering and let's be real, any relationship [to maintain it] requires you to make sacrifices and do things that you don't want, if you simply want to keep the person around. Not to mention how their actions and words will hurt you, etc. Plus, when they're gone, you'll just suffer more.) And reality as cruel, uncaring and absurd. With no sense of higher purpose. Sounds a lot like Obito, doesn't it? In his eyes, he's saving the world. He's making sure no one suffers. Remember, this is a guy who lost everything. No parents. No respect in his own village. No Rin. People think he's dead. That's a fucking 12-13 year old. Do you know how easy it is to manipulate a freshly traumatized prepubescent kid? VERY. In his eyes, he's doing the right thing. His entire ideology is- you want this but you just don't know it yet. He wants people to reach their goal and that's where the problem comes in... He doesn't know the difference between right and wrong anymore. Even when he realizes it, he's not stupid enough to think oh I'm redeemed. No. He outright says, alright... I'm a bad guy. Kill me already. When they don't, he attempts to somewhat make up for it by Trying to bring back people from the death; by giving up his own life. Yes, Madara controls him via zetsu, etc. Blah blah blah. Additionally, whenever someone gives him a reality check Obito is like "yeah so? Idgaf..." Or just "idc". Or comments on how absurd reality is. Or he'll just deflect using sarcasm. All signs indicative of Avoidant personality disorder and a coping mechanism. The point is, even if he knows that he's wrong... He CANNOT afford to be wrong in his mind. Otherwise all of his life becomes meaningless. (Remember how absurdist's believe that there's no higher meaning or purpose?) Obito is desperately trying to find a purpose. Obito maybe misguided and stupid at points but he's not a moron. He recognises that how far gone he is. Which is why even when he was trying to confirm through Naruto what he feels and he surely second guesses his actions he probably realizes that "okay, I'm already too fargone to just give up and play the good guy card". Which he doesn't, by the way. There was no point at which Obito attempted to be the good guy. He was simply helping Team 7 out of a sense of guilt and obligation for what he has done and in the end, he still saved the next generation and his friend. With his dreams shattered, his life goal built on a misguided lie and his role as an international criminal, Obito dies with basically amounting to nothing in the end. That's just freaking tragic. What does he do? Does he cry and whine? Does he throw a hissy fit? No. He just asks Naruto to keep living his dream. Simple. You realize he had the fucking Rinnegan, Edo Tensei and could probably even get hands on someone like Chiyo, if he was just obsessed with Rin. He didn't want her back ffs. He even says it. She's dead. It's done. It's simply the last straw fam and if you're stupid enough to obsess with the meme? Be stupid. Couldn't care less but don't pass your comments as if they're grounded in objectivity.

I really like how Obito tries to convince Kakashi to join his side, you can see that Obito really cares for Kakashi, Rin and the whole world. Sure it's true his doing this for himself, but it's more like a mixture selfishness and selflessness. Though... I do have a bias because he's my favourite character, soooo take it as you will. I think Madara and Obito are the true heroes of the story they just want to create a utopian dream of peace and happiness giving everyone what they want honestly if they could achieve this without resorting to violence I don't think anyone would call them villains but the way the village system is, selfishly clinging to their tailed beast weapons they couldn't just politely ask for them and don't forget our "heroes" use violence too opting to kill the Akatsuki members rather than capture them key example Hidan they could have dug him out and kept him imprisoned rather than letting him starve to death I know I'm reading too much into this as it is a Shonen story but if people want to bring up philosophy this has to be said

The Ten Tails unleashes its next transformation, and you technically have already seen it...

*spoiler warning* people seem to be praising obito but hating on sasuke at the moment even though their ideals are pretty similair it makes complete sense for him to feel that way since that it what the kage and itachi taught him. his view of a kage is shaped by what other people taught him and he foreshadows his "betrayal" constantly throughout the war. sasuke's anger is not at a group of people, only the ideal that these people follow, a system. he hates why they killed his family, not that they were killed in the first place. so his enemy will forever be changing, as long as there is one person in this world that follows the ideals that had his clan killed. At first glance it might seem like Sasuke's vengeance is all over the place, but if you take a step back and look at it, it all makes perfect sense. His actions of isolating himself from his friends? Perfect sense when you realize that he has only been shown time and time again through personal experience that bonds make him weaker. Sasuke's always been about the mission, about his goal, so he will cast off whatever is necessary. It is only through other character's challenging this mindset that Sasuke changes as a person. He deeply wants connections, but has been proven time and time again that this will only lead to ruin. Sasuke's motives and actions all have deeper reasoning behind them. He doesn't do something without an actual reason to. his entire view of becoming a kage was shaped by hashirama and itachi and so he believes that a kage makes the world a better place at the cost of his own life and will endure. thats why sasuke wants to become hokage by the end of the series.

Let's be honest. A lot of us would choose to be in the infinite Tsukuyomi if it applied for us as well because we despite the cruelty of this world and, to an extent, the humans who create those circumstances. So I don't really blame Obito for believing the genjutsu world is the ideal way to be peaceful. People cannot be tranquil for a day and in Obito's case the shinobi world is to blame for killing his motivation and hope in Rin. Obito realised at a young age that the world can never be in peace and those who believe in negotiation and stuff like that are people who live inside their own fantasies, just like Itachi stated.

A lot of people hate Obito saying he did it all for Rin, but right here is where Obito flat out says that wasn't the case. She was part of the cause, but it wasn't just her death, but the circumstances behind it. "The shinobi system, the village, shinobi themselves, they created these circumstances. What caused me despair is this world itself". He hated the world. Of course, he was also an Uchiha who we just a few episodes earlier were told that when they loose their love, it gets replaced with hate more so than any other clan or people. Obito's hate went not to Rins killer, not to the individuals who sealed the 3 tails inside of her, but to all of shinobi for creating a system that let it happen, and he happened to have Madara, who told him there was a way to fix all that.
