Unquenchable Fury normally cops are available whenever needed. They wouldn't waste their time arresting a figment of someone's imagination if their duty called for something important. If the stuff you claim was happening actually WAS happening behind the scenes, it would be taken care of.

Your definition of "wasting time" is quite different from everyone elses...cops are public servants, and helps anyone that needs help...theres plenty of stories of cops doing things that could be considered "wasting time" to you. Help comes in many forms, and varies from person to person, that said, if the woman(who could have been mentally unstable) actually believed there was a ghost that broke into her house, the police fake-arresting the ghost puts the womans mind at ease, in essence, they're protecting someone who is a part of the public they swore to protect, I certainly see no harm in what they did...its not like officers are busy every minute of every day, there's thousands of towns that don't see calls on a daily basis, so there's plenty of opportunities to do things like this to help people.
