Suggestion, you may want to put a grommet on that hole where you pass the oil cooler hoses through or you can take a rubber hose, slit it in the middle and wrap it around the hole to prevent the hose from rubbing. I know they're braided and meant to last but it's one thing less to worry about knowing that it will be a daily driver and regular track car. Plus it's black, it can be easy to overlook small damages. Also, cheers to Joel Luz of Toysport. Can't go wrong with those folks!

Great stuff. When using adjustable wrenches, keep the non-adjustable side on the front side of the direction of turn. That way the fixed side wears the torque and the adjustable side really just keeps it snug. You'll get less wear and tear on the adjusting gear.

I actually bought an Astro rivnut tool the other day as well. I got the right angle one though because of space concerns.

I ran across the same issue, but I need to put them in a truck, so I got some manual screw in tools and a pneumatic tool. The pneumatic tool was more expensive, but its the bees knees. I used it a lot.

The rivnut tool will use less space if you dont screw it in the whole way, you can screw it further afterwards and do another stroke. ;)

This build is going to be awesome, a car that weighs in at some 2300 lbs with near 200 hp? I really want to swap a BEAMS into my 71 after seeing this video, but don't really want to do all the computer stuff. Is there any practical way to use the stock computer with the BEAMS or maybe even convert to carbs?

Karl Jay beams motors have and immobilizer so unless you pay unnecessary amounts of money to someone to bypass it you're better off with a stand alone.

Love your content guys. Been a longtime supporter. I was wondering if using a longer bolts with a spacer in between the mounting tabs would be better for your oil cooler. Your going to be putting some torque on *just* the lower tabs when the air hits it at track speeds.

Just wondering if the oil cooler should be mounted inverted, to promote circulation, and provide for oil changes?
@benliu6420
@benliu6420 6 жыл бұрын
Kevin Bowers I think if you invert it, it'll trap air bubbles in the top. This is coming from Carroll Smith's Tuned to Win if I recall.
@magnetic0314
@magnetic0314 6 жыл бұрын
If you mount it upside down, it will only flood the bottom couple rows with oil leaving the top of the cooler doing nothing.

We used fancy pneumatic tools to set blind rivet nuts back in my work shop life. For tight spaces we had a specific spanner set but i'm pretty sure you could also use just a spacer and screw to clamp these rivet nuts. shop.eisen-pfeiffer.de/Article/10341
