That rear trim piece was just to fill the gap between the standard wagons and the widebody quarter flairs so they didn't need two different bodies.

I love the wagon fellas. I special ordered an 06’ Evo 9 SE new back in 2006. Kept the car stock, full ‘virgin’. On the dyno it made 207 to the wheels. All I ever replaced was the clutch. Sold it with 109,000 miles on it for almost as much as I paid for it. I am told the new owner ruined the car almost immediately. One of the most fun cars that I’ve ever owned.

In technicality, there was a "lancer wagon" made in America, but it was a FWD pile of poo that never got the Evolution treatment. However, the mix of a rally legend on a family wagon body makes this one of my all-time favorite hoon-mobiles. Glad you went for importing one rather than making a hodge-podge mimic of the true legend!
@d34thby13376 ай бұрын
The American Lancer Sportback got the OZ Rally treatment and was reasonably well liked in its time, but it's nothing compared to this.

It's a rare car even in Japan. Unlike previous EVO-converted wagons, this car is a very niche vehicle that Mitsubishi made by cutting off the rear end of an EVO 9 MR on the production line to turn it into a wagon.

If I am not mistaken then that rear plastic peace You hate is actually to “hide” seam underneath it. So some relatively high amount of bodywork would be needed to get rid of it. Somebody in Us built stock Lancer wagon into EVO and went into detail about that peace.

I don't even try to mess with O2 sensors when doing exhaust now, I just buy new OEM ones. You always either tear up the sensor or destroy the threads in the bung.

i need you guys to go back to basics and just do random track day videos with your garage. Badass 2000 era, just once a month highlight two of your cars that are sitting on the shelf behind you and bring it to the track with its closest competitor on the shelf. is the Evo 9 Wagon a match for a M3 Wagon or supercharged Lexus? well we will find out next month 😂

Those lines are for the radiator as you said, however, it's not a "warmer". The radiator has a built in cooler for transmission fluid to run through to essentially cool the oil. Manual radiators obviously don't have that hence why it's looped as you've also mentioned. But just a correction; it's not a warmer, its a cooler.
@speedacademy5 ай бұрын
There’s a cooler for the trans oil already so the rad is likely a warmer for the winter but still an extra cooler in the summer.

haven't finished the video yet, but as an owner of one of these cars im guessing the copper winding is due to the replacement of the radiator with a manual evo radiator, the auto radiators are different and had a channel for cooling atf fluid
