I have used google translate to understand potential responses to my questions at Doctors & Dentists offices somewhat successfully. I have also noticed that most do understand a fair amount of English and admire your courage and will be more willing to be patient with you when you google there responses if still in doubt.

Thank you so much - anything you can do to help me to formulate any sort of sentence is hugely appreciated. I very much value the work you and your team do.

Anticipation is key to prepare our mind for all possible questions/answers especially if we are taken by our fear/shyness to make mistakes or simply go blank, not knowing what to say. At least we would have some sentences a priori that could save us the hassle. Thank you for your lovely videos and tips.

Hi Mark...I just happen to stumble over your site again, and it is sooo nice to see you still teaching your "brilliantly easy techniques" of learning all kinds of langauges even during "breaks"! Best wishes and the warmest of greetings from Markus (Marburg, Germany)

To be very honest I haven't really thought about it before, and it's so useful! Whenever I have the possibility to speak I'll use this technique. Dankeschön Mark

To be honest, I'm used to make phone calls with native speakers from different countries and I like going with the flow. I know that I could share information on a wide range of topics, But I have to admit that The conversation can be a bit more struggling when I have to deal with technical things, even in Spanish that I can speak quite fluently. But that's true sometimes it's good to prepare yourself, I know that in German I used to translate songs in French in then with my friend we could talk about it, giving our opinion or asking questions, it was really nice and I think both are interesting to do, it depends especially on your own objectives I suppose… 😁

Thank you for your comment! We appreciate you taking the time to leave your thoughts on this topic. We agree that every learner is different and it depends on each of their objectives with the language(s) they're learning 😊

This is a great idea Mark. I do sort of do this but maybe not to the extent that you explain. I will definitely make greater use of this anticipation technique in the future (especially if the NZ borders ever open and I am able to get back to Italy!) Thanks, keep up the awesome work :)

More videos like this would be nice since I am learning one of the few languages it seems Mark doesn’t know! But I have been listening to Coffee Break languages for years (is it possible - maybe over a decade?) and it is nice to have general learning stuff from a familiar favorite channel.

Come to really think of it, I guess we do anticipate answers on a daily basis subconsciously and we don't pay much heed to it. This video has been really helpful, would definitely love more of these!

Ehi Mark. Come stai? Firstly yes please do make more of these videos. In response to this topic. You and Francesca have both said in your past podcasts to look out for clues and also the breakdown if possible of words in relation to context. I usually try to listen alot and see if there are words I don't understand, I will ask the Italian speaking, what does ? mean, or i don't understand, could you explain abit easier or in another way for me (in Italian obv). But I do like this idea of having maybe multiple responses in your back pocket just incase. There is always that + 1 response that someone hasn't thought about. But fidarsi il tuo istinto does help. Glad the t-shirts got to Marina finally 🥳 Hope your keeping well and the foot is getting better. a presto, ciao 🙂 Nicole
