Wow.. all these lessons on final particles are so good!! As a Thai native speaker, I had no idea how to explain any of these in English.

Fantastic video!!! It's as entertaining as it is informative. And I love the comments around 3:40 about how we should check with other native speakers due to disagreements. This is advice that only come from brain of a true linguist! I wish I had more than two thumbs to give you.

That's right. Language is not rigid and people have preferences, so just because one Thai person says so it doesn't mean it's an absolute truth. Some Thai native speakers seem to dig their heels in when confronted with different opinions though. Anyway, thank you!

Great lesson. Another polite particle for male speakers that I have heard so often is ครับผม. It is always used alongside ครับ in sentences. I just don’t know the difference 😅

I love your videos! Something you said though has me down a etymological rabbit hole: in Texas, we say “grain of salt” but “pinch of salt” has the same idiomatic meaning. Sigh. 😂😂😂
@Dukelanguagebkk
@Dukelanguagebkk 4 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Yes, I think 'a pinch of salt' is probably used more this side of the Pond (Bre. Eng.). To be honest though, a grain of salt sounds a lot harder to pick up by hand!

This is a useful video, about the standard particles. Nice examples. Very comprehensive. Could you make a sequel of similar videos about personal pronouns?
