You used to make the perfect cabinet, but it was way ahead of its time. I'm referring to my 2 x 12 cab, which is as wide as, yet not quite as tall as a standard 4 x 12. For modern downtuned music, the lows are clear and pronounced without flubbing and getting in the way of the bassist. With decent noise-gating, it's still the best speaker I've ever owned, you should REALLY look into marketing it toward the more recent djenters as well as anyone who likes definition at all points of the sound spectrum.

Out of this bunch, I like the standard 212. Seems big enough sonically, but also quite portable... But really hoping there will be a similar greenback (or at least V-type) loaded range shootout... As others have noted, the seventy-80 doesn't seem like an ideal marriage for overdriven Marshall sounds.

Hey Alan, thank you for the feedback. In the meantime, why not check out our other speaker cab comparison video? kzbin.info/www/bejne/nKSQp5iujaaBeM0 We run through all our available cabinet and speaker types to show you the difference each one makes sonically. Thanks, Team Marshall

What about the inexpensive Code 412 cabinet? Would it be much worse than much more expensive Marshall cabinets?

On this video's audio the single 12 does best for the CLEAN jazz intro harmonics. The multi speaker units are best for OVERDRIVE depending on the size of the venue. Something about multiple speakers in a thrust-race to see which frequencies get out of the gate. The 212A for overdrive would sound good for recording without deafening the room or the mics. The 4x12A would shine if turned up volume-wise. You can tell the player's strum response changed depending on which cab was featured.

Clean sounds nice, overdriven tones are awful. Really need V30’s or Greenbacks for a good Marshall high gain.

The MX212 does sound better than the MX212AR with distortion in this video. But, they’re not the exact same speakers in each, moved back and forth? I can’t see how they should sound any different. Maybe, the speakers aren’t broken in with the AR, or the AR just got lesser 70/80 speakers off the assembly line. Speaker placement, etc…

Sorry, I meant to say mic placement.

All the MX cabs make my TSL100 sound soft and weak. 1960 cab is a huuuuge upgrade. 1960v is even better!
@gab.lab.martins Жыл бұрын
Fun fact: the 1960V does NOT have V-30s. V-30s are 60W, they have 70W Celestion V-Type speakers. I don’t know why Marshall refuses to acknowledge that, but it’s the truth. Both British and Chinese V-30s don’t sound very good with Marshall heads.
@JoshuaSmits Жыл бұрын
@@gab.lab.martins I know. Marshall uses their "own" British made Celestion vintage speakers, which should sound more like the original V30's.
@gab.lab.martins Жыл бұрын
@Rock Master Dan yes. The 1960s have T-75s in them, which are scoopy (Metallica used them on Master of Puppets). 1960Vs have “vintage speakers” rated at 70W. V30s are 60W, but the V-Types are 70W. If you look up the sound samples of the V-Types - from Celestion themselves I think - it’ll sound exactly like the 1960V cabs. For some incomprehensibly bizarre reason, Marshall insists that it’s not the case, but it is. If you plug an 800, JVM, Jubilee, etc into a Mesa cab (which has British V-30s), or an Orange or Engl cab (which have Chinese V-30s), they sound “wrong”. The midrange focus is all off, the frequencies don’t match. Marshall amps only sound “right” on Marshall cabs.
