Good taste in speakers and Nice job!. I have a pair of these and also made some stands for mine. As a matter of fact i just finished building them tonight. Mine are lower profile and do the job...but I like the way yours look, I may consider something similar.

With a crossover frequency @800Hz bringing the woofer emission point to that height is very likely to generate a reflection from the floor (called mirror image floor source) that will cancel frequencies in the range reproduced by the woofer. This is what I learned reading the writings of some respected acoustic designers including the never too much missed eng. Renato Giussani (ESB, Aedon, GR-Research). Better to install this Yamaha for the purpose for which it was designed. (large bookshelf)

How much would you charge to make same style custom stand? Say 14 inch wide 10.5 inch deep and 8 inch high? Solid oak? Thanks!

How did you end up with two left-hand speakers?
@JosephCrowesDIYSpeakerBuilding4 жыл бұрын
Shaun Onverwacht I don’t think they come in mirror pairs. That would be nice though.

@@JosephCrowesDIYSpeakerBuilding NS-690? If so, they do. Perhaps a previous owner made a mismatch. Anyway, they're still good speakers.
@JosephCrowesDIYSpeakerBuilding4 жыл бұрын
I did buy them from a church, perhaps they had a few pair and they got them mixed up.

It has the first model of 690 .. you confuse it with NS-690 mkIII which has the arrangement of the speakers in the mirror!

I really thought with all that equipment you would have made a more creative design. Extremely lackluster build,looks like something paste together from found scraps. SMH.

kc Jones Your right, It was the first project I’ve ever done with cedar and the last softwood project I’ve done since then. I think at the time I was just needing stands and I wanted to test out my video recording gear. The stuff I do now is pretty decent... facebook.com/groups/1449567115312949/permalink/2613536832249299/
