The stalking plugin is an example of why the devs can never endorse any mods, because you never know if there's a backdoor or something malicious going on.

Oh, give me a break. Plenty of MMO's allow players to use addons that meet acceptable standards. Stop parroting SE's bad talking points.

It's also why the devs need to start doing weekly micro patches and completely get rid of mods. They've gone too far and it's become a security risk and a lawsuit in the making.

I mean, they can. Jagex has an approval process that needs to be met for plug-ins to be added to OldSchool Runescape's Runelite client. Any malicious plug-ins need to be downloaded externally, and at that point that would be your fault for not installing a plugin through official means

@@bobbypadlock I don't disagree with that, and I'm not opposed to them taking actions against this particular bad mod developer. My point, though, is that stating that all mods are bad--or that posing an argument that modding as a whole is a problem--is something with which I strongly disagree. "Good" mods enhance what is objectively a terrible UI. And a wide-scale crackdown on them now will only hurt a game that needs to find some way to attract players, not shed them.
