I use your videos often in class with my English language learners. But I can’t use this one! We just don’t talk that way in the south. Or if we do you’re kind of seen as a little low class. Thank goodness there’s lots of other videos I can use. I’m just glad I previewed it first. I don’t always do that.

This is a clear example why I need subtitles when watching a movie: no matter was I was taught in my years of learning English, no matter that I live with a US native speaker (even though in Italy), in the end people speak as they want and I was never taught this! Thank you Rachel for your enlightening lessons. 👏🏻 P.S. Here we do use a lot “mm-hmm” to mean yes. 👍🏻
