happy weekend everyone 😊 I had a few questions about my recent life updates and things I wanted to talk openly about so this is a very long overdue Q&A! I promise we will be back with the regular (non-burnout, non-egg freezing) content next week ~ hope everyone's having a great week 💖

another reason why long form on KZbin has always been my favorite. you're able to share as much or as little as possible but it's also an opportunity to give yourself the space that you need as a h u m a n.

thank you for sharing this with us, Sarah! For the longest time your channel’s primarily been a source of inspiration for me, because you are such an overachiever. Maybe you don’t believe that yourself but as far as i know, you went to an ivy league school, did various internships, already bought a house and you obviously have this well paying and very respected job. You said yourself you’ve never really not had a strict schedule eg proper time off, and that is absolutely unimaginable for me. I would have ended up with mental health issues much much sooner. For you to even last that long without mental health problems is a big achievement by itself. Give yourself a pat on the back for coming so far. A sick pet on top of an already really busy life is the absolute worst, super emotionally draining at the very least. And then you also froze your eggs, which is yet another physical and mental thing to deal with. It’s good to hear that you are doing better now! Continue to take it slow and take care of yourself! ❤️

You’re one of the most genuine people I’ve ever seen on KZbin. Keep making great content.

burn out is so real! and it can be incredibly hard to navigate working in tech since it's perceived as such a "chill" job. great q&a! love the transparency :)

Just want to say thank you for sharing. I have chronic upper back, neck, and some leg pain. I've been trying my best to stretch and see a PT to help me. It's kept me so down mentally, but as someone whos older and wants to get a career in coding it has really held me back. I think hearing that you keep moving forward even after all these pains makes me want to push myself, so thank you Sarah.

Being engaged is def okay to do! Get engaged and you can def delay the wedding planning and decide when it’s time! Like Stephanie soo & her husband did!!! ahaha

like if im not suffering, im not working hard enough. if i have a good sleep schedule, I'm not busy enough. if I'm comfortable, I'm not passionate enough.

Start by taking day trips or looking for apartments in Jersey and see if you like the vibes. Totally recommend Jersey City, Metuchen, Edison, Hoboken, Ridgewood, and Edgewater. If you want some relaxation go to SOJO or Island Spa and Sauna. Amazing food around both places too.

As someone who’s had many burnout cycles, can I just applaud you for taking care of yourself ❤ and can I also recommend getting a TENS machine for neck and shoulder pain 😊

hi sarah! not sure if you would ever get to read this, but you’ve been one of my favorite creators on youtube for the past year. you actually helped me a lot when i was moving to nyc because i saw how much time you’ve invested into your hobbies, self care, content creation, and career. you really reignited my creative side by just showcasing your life here. anyways, i just wanted you to know that your genuine self inspires me sm and i’m excited to see where life takes you. wishing you the best!!

Ive been wanting to take a break from work for years now. Working in the human services field, COVID took a number on my own mental health but we aren't usually given paid mental health leave at all. So its either I get stressed out at work and burn myself out for the paycheck, or take time off and stress about not bringing home any income. I am happy you were able to take some time for yourself. I have enjoyed your content because its a break from every day life and its nice to see what NYC is like as someone who grew up there and has since moved away. Wishing you and your mental health all the best Sarah.

Same burnout is crazy but there are still lovely moments where I get to enjoy the fruits of my labor or just feel proud of how far I’ve come. Though having insomnia and intense brain fog is not fun

I'm so glad you took that break from work. I've been going through very similar issues at work. I've been pulling consecutive back to back all-nighters and have been needing to take a nap in my car before I drive home because I'm scared of falling asleep at the wheel. It's gotten to the point where I think I'm just going to throw in the towel. It's just really not worth it to me anymore. It's just not.

What a coincident, im in my 20s and thinking about it too. I have no plan nor feeling like im in the aptitude for rasing kids in at least 10 years. But I still thinking about freezing eggs just so I have option in the future. The only obstabcle for me is financial means to sustain the egg freezing.

Hi Sarah! thank you so much for sharing your story about taking mental health leave. Did you experience any friction or pushback when going towards that path? Or have issues getting support from psychiatrist/therapists? How did you determine how much time away was the correct amount?

I live in NJ so if you start seriously considering moving here, I can recommend some areas for you and James to check out! I work in NJ but have occasional site visits in NYC so if commute factors into your decision, I can try and recommend areas with a relatively easy commute :)

its really nice hearing from someone else who suffers from depression. i was really scared about taking medication in the beginning but in the end its one of the best decisions i've ever made. to all those that have been apprehensive i really recommend you just try it. i was super worried about it changing my personality but it didn't change me at all. it just removed a lot of my depressive thoughts.
