I’ve only recently heard of Bikram through the grapevine / the channels I tend to frequent, so it’s interesting this has now come to light, but I’m so glad it has. I’m so sick & tired of these cult like leaders getting away with the most disgusting treatment of others & abusing their ‘power’. It’s true; you put your faith & trust in something or someone, & when that facade starts to falter you make excuses for them; that’s the typical victim response, especially when gradually groomed / manipulated over a long period of time. Although I need to research everything more, from what I’ve already heard & read, it doesn’t seem like he was the type to pounce from the get go. He’d make them feel special by calling them up to his room, taking an interest in them & their lives, watching films with them, starving them of sleep, food, any type of nourishment of any kind, & then groom the crap out of them. That’s SO typical of these disgusting & vile people. I hope all involved get or have got the justice they so rightly deserve (/ do get it). I went to his training. Since I lived in Orange County I left the hotel (in Los Angeles) for home as often as I liked. Actually many international students would drive all over on the weekends when they had time to places like Vegas and back. No one held us hostage. Honestly, I don't remember having Bikram ever say he is anyone's guru. And he didn't ever claim to teach us more than the very basics of hatha yoga. He did instill a proper amount of humility teaching us that actually when we do finish 9 weeks training we were only at the starting line in terms of understanding and knowing yoga as a whole. He guided us to read books such as Yoga Sutras of Pantanjali, Autobiography of a Yogi and Mahabarata for a deeper teaching of yoga & yoga philosophy. And I definitely was not approached for any favors. Before you knock it try the yoga daily. The series healed me of pain that no yoga series offered here in United States had until that point. I have 17 years plus of yoga experience of various lineages (and non lineages). Before yoga I was a dancer, runner and gym rat with chronic pain this Bikram series healed. I experienced Bikram the man as a kind, eccentric, intuitive, motivating yoga teacher. I am forever grateful for him and his ex-wife Rajashree for what I learned & continue to learn from both of them.

This is so sick. What western people need to know, yes, I know you like travelling abroad and to search for a higher meaning when you go. But you need to understand, you need to be careful and not be so damn gullible. When you're looking for teachings from a human, you gotta understand that a human being will ALWAYS, have dark desires within them, just because they claim to be a master of yoga or a pious religious guru, if they claim they are a higher power, IMMEDIATELY walk out the door. A person who walks the path as a person of knowledge and holds the right of a guru, they will never say such things about them that makes them look all powerful or all mighty. Highly intelligent and wise gurus will always, always always put themselves in the lowest position in humbleness ever, they will never speak great about themselves because they know, they are empty inside, and the knowledge that he learns is what makes him powerful, they will never talk about their knowledge in a disriminating way to their disciples because without knowledge they are never powerful. Take into account to whoever is reading this, because it makes me really sad to see so many people have their lives scarred for life, and the foreigners who I see come visit my country I feel so sorry for them. Plus I too have had an experience in a person taking advantage over me who just wants my money while he claims to be a powerful guru.
