Raff and Sasha you are setting the standard of design, functionality, and beauty. I am so excited each week to see what comes next......Raff your skills are exemplary but I got to say Sasha's touch is evident and her willingness to jump in the deep water without a life jacket on this build is mind blowing.....

@@SpearItAnimal Ya, I have to echo the high 5 for Sasha! Not just a pretty girl, she's clearly into this refit and project just as much as Raff and takes on real work. Raff's carpentry is THE secret weapon here of course though, you are a swami with hand tools. I'm humbled. Raff also simply does not see 'No' - everything is solvable. It's infectious. I dislike being such a fanboi, it makes me uncomfortable, lol. But you two are really special.

Raff, your experience in construction and other trades has served you & Sascha well with all of the varied things you have done to pretty much overhaul this boat and make it seaworthy & comfortable to live in. That’s a crazy amount of weight to add to your boat. Also all the weight aft and high. The high weight is definitely an issue as it alters the moment of vanishing stability and the capsize ratio. This is super important and the capsize ratio on your boat from manufacture is already outside recommended specifications for a blue water sailing yacht, yet you say you want to sail around the world. Great work but man buy a huge motor boat or a floating apartment catamaran, that monohull is not the boat for you guys! That is a cool hard top though! 👍⛵️

Shade, etc. spot on. But Sir... style, it looks like the biggest doghouse of the world. I get the practical part, but in a storm, you have now added stuff that will get hit by the wind and waves. You also lifted your centre of gravity by lifting the boom + all the other heavy stuff in top of the bimini. Do you notice the change when sailing? Cool videos absolutely love them. Hope that the top is made in sandwiches structure for keeping it light. Also it would have been a good idea to use carbon tubes in the frame, they are not so expensive any more.

You both are doing a great job on both your boat upgrades and the videos. Very creative, the results show it. My only comment, as an engineer, is to through bolt the forward attachment plates. It would make stronger in tension loads, due to the tender and all the stuff you plan on storing up there. In heavy seas you will thank yourself for adding the extra strength.

Incredible work and you'll definitely have the best hard top out there. Just a quick suggestion, you must back plate the pads, otherwise the gelcoat will crack under high winds. I'm sure you already have this planned and sorry for probably pointing out the obvious. Anyway safe sailing and looking forward to your adventures on the Big Blue.

That frame came out beautifully... The only thing I'd be concerned about is sealing the bolt holes so water doesn't get into the cabin, making sure the stainless/aluminum don't have a direct metal-metal connection because of corrosion, and making sure it's WELL grounded to the bonding plate. Also may want to keep an eye on how much weight you're adding up top as it could affect your balance and catch the wind if your boat rolls a bit farther than you expect.

This is the Master Class Video how to design, construct and fit a hard top on a boat. I remember the Soulianis had to scrap 2 (or 3?) much smaller frames before they could start sowing their DIY bimini. This SIA project is like how RR produce a new car compared to how Lada does it (Russian manufacturer that supplies their cars with a tool kit as they constantly breaks down). Muchos Kudos Sash and Raffa.

Of all the DIY projects I've ever witnessed, this one had me on the edge of my seat.
