PS as line I switched to Salvimar Bungeetech, 4m extends 4 times to 16m. It has a 80kg load with a dyneema core. I don't feel any drag anymore, it is so great. I added 1 meter of poly rope at both ends to extend it and preserve it. Float stays closer, yet when i dive I don't feel any pull on my gun.

Thanks Stefano I might have to look at the bungee for the float line.

Dude... that little reel is a complete game changer. Wow. What an amazing idea! I’ve been looking at getting a ‘big’ float for a while, the Guardian and the Epsealon one seem to be the best. I think you’ve sold me. I live over 100 miles from the sea, it’s a 2.5 hour drive for me so when I go, I tend to be in the water all day. Having somewhere to store food, drinks, keys etc would be a life saver. I normally use a bag attached to my float, just toss the drinks and a few chocolate bars in. The drag when I pick up a couple of spider crabs is just horrendous! Great video 👍🏼
@thejerseyspearo17924 жыл бұрын
Cheers mate, yeah the reel keeps it nice and tidy, it would work on a smaller float too. The big float is def the way to go if you want to stay in the water for longer and go further.

I’m new to spearfishing, why the chocolate bars? I noticed you both mentioned that.
@BR0SE1DON2 жыл бұрын
@@brunoborges9811 no particular reason mate, they’re just nice to eat, makes you feel better when you’re tired 😅 they’re also very compact and have lots of calories. I normally take water, a banana and a Snickers when I’m diving. I ended up buying the Epsealon Patrol float, it’s brilliant. I just use a normal line winder with the thin, Rob Allen line, works really well. I also have a Picasso anchor, which is great, but rarely used. Hope that helps!
@brunoborges98112 жыл бұрын
@@BR0SE1DON mate I was overthinking the heck out of that chocolate bar thing. I thought at first that it was to help prevent blackouts, make you a better spear-fisher, throw it in the water, big fish love chocolate bars, that kind of thing 😂😂😂. On a serious note, thanks for the reply, I’m seriously looking into getting an Epsealon Patrol raft, the idea of having all your gear stored nice and neat in and out of the water is driving me to get one! Happy fishing! 🐟 🐠

Most of us in Guernsey use plastic tubing for the whole of our dive line . Dont you find the thin cord gets stuck and tangled in weed if you where in the shallows ? I really like the idea , nice and neat

Not really, it seems to pull through the weed just fine.

I bought the Cressi Spyder, it is well made, but I regret not getting the Imersion version, the latter looks the same. although it has only one bladder, no weight pocket and red bottom. It allows to carry easily a speargun or 2 above rather than below the float, which I prefer as I am spearfishing in the western atlantic usually with currents and waves that may throw a float on the rocks. Above the water may be the safer option for rough condition, although in southern, hot countries the guns under the float are protected from the sun. I ended up buying a dinghy style float, the Seac Seamate. I can carry more stuff and it is higher above the water line, so more visible to boats. The Omer Atoll, Cressi Spyder are a little to low and flat, and apart the flag they may not be as visible in choppy seas. These are my 2 cents. Very happy with the Seac Seamate, very light to carry. Comes with a small flag so i use the Spyder's flag on it.

Thanks Stefano, I love the dingy style floats, unless there is a long walk from the car to the water - it can get a bit heavy after a long trek!

Hi, enjoyed your video, good idea with the line reel. Interested to know if you attach it to your gun or your belt given that it’s a bigger float ?
@thejerseyspearo17924 жыл бұрын
Cheers Neil. I attach it to my belt. I find if I attach it to my gun, it can affect my aim! I only dive shallow (12m or less) so not too much danger of losing my gun if it get stuck.

I have a float exactly like the torpedo. It never seems to stay upright. It always flops over the in the water. Any suggestions?
@thejerseyspearo17923 жыл бұрын
If you put a small weight like maybe 0.25kg on the bottom of it, that should help it to stay upright. Maybe a small cord around the body of the torpedo and the weight attached underneath. The torpedo float I have came with an attachment on the bottom for a weight.
@justinbrewer32883 жыл бұрын
@@thejerseyspearo1792 I usually attach it to myself and kind of bring it around with me, but when I look back, it's totally flopped over... You think I should attach a separate weight to the underside of it?

Hey mate, how does the buoy inflate? Thanks
@thejerseyspearo17923 жыл бұрын
There is a valve on the inside at the top near the flag, and its one continuous bladder that goes all the way from one side to the other. It came with a pump to inflate it, and it has a pressure relief valve in case it gets too hot in the sun.

I have a question about the beuchat guardian float, if it gets a puncture is it easy to be fixed?
@nickbossy96593 жыл бұрын
Hi Myrz, yes the inflatable bladders in the sides can be removed easily - the bladders can then be repaired or replaced.

My paracord sinks, but the first meter covered with plastic tubing stops it tangling too much.

@On A Mission I found a place that had them in stock and didn't charge tax or shipping so I bit the bullet and bought one. Now I can't help wondering if I could get the job done with one of those fishing tubes. They are much bigger when inflated which has its benefits and issues but it is less than a third of the cost.
