Way to go, as that is a beautiful adventurous experience for that boy that will last forever! The perfectly cut clear hole is like out of a movie. You dont know what will show up! Awesome big Pike. Could you catch some Yellow Perch? You might give consideration to buying a Crayster Snake River or Lake Crayfish Trap and fill the bait cage with Perch fish heads let it down and catch some Crayfish while your at it. Safe Journeys!

They are very similar to walleye or yellow perch if they come out of cold water. Mighty tasty!

If you can do it use a big 10 or 12 " decoy and don't move it. You generally can see some of the larger pike...it just takes a lot of patience...

I filet them. There is a video if you search KZbin for how to filet pike, I follow those instructions and do pretty good

Couple of good sized pike, Cody. Must be nice to finally be back out on the ice. We still have a few more weeks to go here in Ontario as the temps have gone back up above freezing.
