Good video Cam and Izzy. Listening to your guys' story evoked two memories, when Izzy was talking about doing things, how hot it is in Africa in the Summer and when Cam was talking about meeting leadership, the time I spent nearly the entire night thinking of a short list of questions I wanted to ask about being in Afghanistan for what was yes, basically a 5-10 minute conversation. Never been to ranger school, but I got called to do some cleanup with a ranger, and I'm pretty sure I saw the main entrance to ranger school. Had the big climbing obstacles right there. I wanted to climb the one with the platforms, but I kept my mouth shut and did my task for the sergeant at the time. The only time I got away from the drill. Working right outside the entrance.

Yes, more Tac Reloads!!!! I was in pretty early on and digital cameras were still not great or really in common use, had 2 disposable cameras I took with me and they both ended up being destroyed in a car fire when a battle buddy and I were moving some stuff after we got back, really sucks to lose all those pics and memories. Got a buddy from 3rd SFG out there somewhere who has a few pictures on his disposable, but I haven't heard from him since 2008 when we parted ways after getting out, such is life I guess.

Update to one of the most pain in the ass joining processes I've heard of. So I got a call saying my vision problems no longer matter and the medical officer says I'm good to go. Downside is im halfway through a police application so I've had to choose and ended up sticking with police but going for reserves. Time to start training again since I'm basically back to square one

1:46 i joined the navy, but wasnt fleet navy, Navy Seabee NMCB4, Seabees are basically dirt sailors/marines that do contengency construction, been out since 2008, the only time i stepped foot onto the deck of a ship outside of basic was in 2007 while in Guam, went down to the harbor to pick up 3100 pounds of sheet metal.

Talking about meeting higher ups "important people", I'm a tech and my military gives techs cut off pants (they essentially turn to short shorts when zipped off so of course I'm wearing them). So I'm doing my job in 40Celcius weather (hot) and a I turn around and there's a general and his posse standing right behind me. "huh, I've heard about the shorts but never actually seen them myself...I'm a bit jealous." I just laugh and say yeah sir they're pretty nice in this heat" and proceed to look busy and get the fuck out of there
