The Army is so permissive now. 😄 Back in the '00s, if you even so much as recorded a video on a cell phone while on deployment, you would get into so much trouble, even if you thought you could do so an Officer. 😄 I don't have a Tik Tok because I'm older than the target demographic but I have seen a few KZbin shorts and it seems pretty cool to just record when bored because you're waiting all day for something to get done. I've even seen a few shorts of guys show their chow hall and horsing around while in Iraq so it seem the Army has relaxed the no recording rules a lot since the '00s. 🙂

Don’t know where the heck to ask questions so I’m doing it here. I’m in the process of enlisting in the army as a combat medic, and hope to become a ranger. Was wondering if you guys had any tips on how to survive training? Also wondering how life in special operations effects a relationship with God?

In no spec ops but I can give you some advice that may or may not fall under the "no duh" heading for basic. First and foremost. Start exercising now. Before I went to basic I was already able to meet like all but one of the physical requirements for graduation, in my case because I had to lose weight and get in shape to join in the first place, but yeah, i was running miles, doing pushups and situps whenever I could think of it, eating healthy, and generally just getting as ready as I could. If you go in looking like a potato, you are gonna have a bad time. If you go in already in good shape, the shock wont be as bad. Adjusting to the daily schedule is bad enough, at least if you can already do pt without collapsing you will have one less thing to worry about.

Think of it as extra pay on top of stuff you don’t pay for (well, visibly). Health insurance, life insurance, and rent/housing, etc. None of that you have to worry about paying for with your paycheck. If you live off post and have an apartment then you get extra pay on top of your base pay to afford it, and can easily pocket the majority of it if your rent is less than the allowance your given. So if you’re single and smart with finances you actually make quite a lot of money, especially if you invest. I was getting $1800/mo E-4 pay and lived off $200/mo for spending and saved the rest. Invested around 30k over 3 years and have a shit ton in the bank now

I wouldnt say they blindly follow orders. From my und er standing orders are given then it's up to the officers and ncos to conduct those orders in the best way they see fit, as they are on the ground. Also, a person can refuse any unlawful order.

Odd thing? My recruiter never once bullsh*t me. I hear about that all the time, maybe its because I went air force and you dont have to lie to convince people to sign up for that? Maybe its because to be in air force you need better than a 4th grade education so its harder to trick them with lies so best to come clean? Maybe I should start running now and hope I can hide? :p I do remember the army recruiter though. That guy can burn in h*ll. I spent 6 months dropping weight with the help of the af recruiter so i could go to basic. Coming in every 2 weeks for a weigh in and advice on diet and workout routines to finish losing the pounds (had to drop 60 to make the max weight) The day I was being sent to meps to sign the contract this jagoff pulls me into his office to give me the hard sell about how the army would be a better place. I sat there till the af recruiter arrived then told him to blow me and left. Seriously, what a piece of trash that guy was. I dont care if he could have tripled my pay and delivered on a promise of free bjs from sports illustrated swimsuit models on a daily basis, I still wouldnt have signed with that guy. You cant trust someone willing to backstab that harshly just to meet his quota.
