U gotta use a piece of wadding like paper or cardboard after the powder and before the shot. Then u seal it up with more wadding. The wadding adds accuracy and range to the shot. They forgot to add the wadding before the shot.

This was cool video and it was awesome to see your initial reaction, but the reason you didn't hit much is cause there wasnt any wadding between powder and projectile and that packing peanut method was garbage. Something as simple as some paper stuffed in there between the powder and projectiles and another piece of paper on top would've made for a tighter pattern and would've given it more power, sound and recoil.

@@bmora2133 maybe one in front and back...thats why they got no pressure behind that shot. not enough of a gas seal for the projectiles to gain velocity
@bmora21332 жыл бұрын
@@nickrouthier3081 maybe that sounds plausible I didn't consider that. I thought the powder was probably reduced for safety reasons but it could just be no pressure.
@MisterNi2 жыл бұрын
I'm basing this off of how American Civil War era rifles were loaded, but the wad goes in last to pack the shots. Sometimes people would load powder into small sacks to make reloading faster and powder amounts more consistent but the wad was to hold everything in place. Sometimes greased cotton would be loaded first and last, but I'm pretty sure a blunderbuss would've been packed with whatever was readily available. Hence using packing peanuts like in this video. 😄

They really didn't understand the loading process for a blunderbuss, should powder, wad, shot, wad. Instead of using Packing peanuts, could use coffee filters credits to inrangeTV. But honestly can use almost as long it can provide a decent seal for compression.

Y’all didn’t use enough powder. I’d try 80-100 grains. With that it would most definitely be very lethal. Also a better wad would make it stronger. You need it to fit tight. Also the 80-100 gr is not a recommendation because I don’t wanna get in trouble if someone does it in a gun that shouldn’t be shot.

I have now seen 2 videos where Lethal Antiques ask you to load a muzzleloader incorrectly multiple times. It's no longer accidental, this must be intentional, is he omitted the wadding between powder and projectile in order to reduce barrel dirt from the wadding burning? Might as well omit the wadding entirely then instead of loading it in the wrong order. Check out InRangeTV's video titled "Blunderbuss - Buckshot Patterning" for what difference such loading makes to accuracy and pressure.
