I've had like 3 (?) MRE Star MREs and I have never once gotten an oatmeal cookie, peanut butter, or tortillas. I always end up with a poundcake, cheese spread, and bread. Love the video as always, you guys rule. Real Question here: How hard would it be to get Israel and Cam branded MREs? I would buy a whole box.

Mountain House is always my go-to for freeze-dried backpacking meals. I'd love to see you try out some of them in the future, especially the breakfast-style ones. For some reason that's the make-or-break for me with respect to how good a particular company is.

Not gonna lie, when I was in middle school I use to eat peanut butter and sugar sandwiches every now and again. The only MRE’s are the freeze dried ones and most of them are okay. Peak refuel and backpacker pantry are definitely my favorite brands. I am always up for Ranger School cookbook.

Honestly knew that curry wouldn't be too hot since they have to account for the broadest amount of tastes and not being able to handle spicy stuff is quite common. It makes bland for the people who like spice but if they went the other direction it would be inedible for the people who can't handle it

May seem like a dumb question, but do you need actual clean water to heat up an MRE heater?
@woodstream6137
@woodstream6137 2 жыл бұрын
No. The water initiates a chemical reaction while the food is in a sealed packet.
@MisterNi
@MisterNi 2 жыл бұрын
No, but you would want the water to at least be clear. One time I was short on water and filled the heater pouch with running stream water and it worked just fine. Of course, I wiped dry the side of the meal pouch that you tear so I wouldn't accidentally give myself some bug from the water.

From what I recall, Curry was to be (allegedly) first introduced as a medicine component in India and created as a dish due to the involvement of the British. That's just a claim though so who knows where it came first. Izzy should be grateful that it's Green Curry as that's the mildest in spices for curry as Red Curry is the hottest and Yellow Curry is the in between. I would bet that since he's not a spicy kind of guy, he'd be on the toilet for hours if he ate Red.
@woodstream6137
@woodstream6137 2 жыл бұрын
At this point I consider curry a spicy sauce. Sadly, the most exotic food we ate growing up was canned chop suey.
@subinrajendran3898
@subinrajendran3898 2 жыл бұрын
Here in south India Curry is any dish with a sauce in it, and no we do not make it separately its made with the dish. I cant recall any history where it started out as a medicinal thing, if you could point me in the right direction it would be a good to add to my knowledge base.
@Yaximbahps
@Yaximbahps 2 жыл бұрын
Let me say what the definition for the word 'allegedly': a claim with no proof. It's pretty much a claim that was from 'word of mouth' from someone who heard from someone else, who also heard it from someone else and went down the line til it gotten blurred out like a game of telephone. There's no way to tell if it's the truth or not. Maybe it's real, maybe it wasn't. However, nowadays we got far too many sites that point the health benefits that curry has, so it shouldn't be a stretch that it COULD have a start as a medicine in the far past and some dude wanted to find some way to make it edible and did so.
@subinrajendran3898
@subinrajendran3898 2 жыл бұрын
@@Yaximbahps Curry came from the tamil/dravidian word Karri, which always meant the dish with a sauce. We still use the word Karri to this day. And medicine is 'Marrunnu' and that does not have any kind of sauce in it, so pretty sure it did not come from that.

Aside from those survival nutrition bars from say 4Patriots or say eating canned food out of a can, I would say no. Freeze drying is so much less expensive than providing chemical heating bags due to the powdered Magnesium and I suppose even the Iron shavings in the heater element.
