I'm unreasonably pleased with myself for noticing that when Cam gave something a 'High Speed' rating but it said 5/5 on screen I immediately thought 'That's wrong, 5/5 is Exceeds Expectations, Promote Ahead of Peers!' Apparently I've subconsciously memorized the rating system, and all it took was four days of marathoning almost everything on the channel. Love these vids guys, keep it up!

In my experience the more recent versions of MREs are actually rather good (the Southwestern Turkey Chili was delicious!), so I'm convinced the Tuna with Noodles (aka "Tuna Surprise", as in "Surprise! You got stuck with the tuna!") exists as an ersatz disciplinary measure...it's meant to be intentionally set aside and saved for your unit's biggest fuckup. If you get the Tuna with Noodles, just go find somewhere far from everybody else, curl up in a ball, and cry until you decide to stop doing whatever it was that landed you with that monstrosity. The only thing worse is the Vegetarian Omelet...I'm convinced that the only reason that exists is to shove it in your backpack if a kaiju attacks, so that it dies shortly after devouring you.

Love the "All Ate Up" series. We get to see MREs from other places, see how Izzy and Cam suffer through some pretty bad ones in the US (even if some of them are probably older then they are) and with the recent Civilian MRE comparisons, you can't get tired of em anytime soon. It does make me wonder though...are you dudes going to find a Civilian MRE from another country or something? I mean the ones that you showed so far just tells us that it's only the Americans so far who have such MREs. Go find a French Civilian MRE or something. Maybe it'll wash off the memory of the tuna you just ate.

I like tuna but I don't think I'd trust vintage MRE tuna. Thanks Cam and Izzy for trying them out so we don't have to. I probably wouldn't mind the brand name tuna in a sealed pack but the old MREs like the tuna and noodles and chicken a la king predate my time in the military. I've tried the chicken a la king and it isn't that bad if you eat it hot and with some crackers. The tuna with noodles, I'd want plenty of hot sauce to douse with. I wouldn't want to try any pre-2000 MRE today though.

From a Cold War Vet. Chicken ala King was disgusting when new, Tuna Noodle wasn't bad. I ate 1st and 2nd gen MRE's. Dehydrated Pork, Dehydrated Beef patty were gross as fuck. the Vomlet with ham (Gen 2) was the most disgusting (at the time) and it came with a hunk of particle board (oatmeal cookie bar). Best parts were the chocolate covered cookie bar and the freeze dried fruit. The coffee was rancid...

#1-800-shift-fire I had a traumatic food experience in the military as well, but it was with canned ravioli rather than tuna. We got it so often we just hated it in the end. Then, one day, we just threw it on the fire and left it there. Thats when we found our therapy... BALLISTIC RAVIOLI! The bottom pops out when it gets hot enough and the contents propel the empty can a fair distance. Like over a 3-story building, while the sargeant happens to be walking between you and the building :D
