That sugar burrito!!! We did have the same dish. But plain wrapper without sesame. We also put a lot of fresh coconut for crunchiness and some sprinkle of sesame. And that wrapper, I have to tell you, make the perfect springroll wrapper. Much lighter then the 'egg wrapping' I've seen in Japanese or Chinese cuisine. (By 'we' I meant Vietnamese, I just so excited how Thai and Vietnamese have so many things in common)

Coolest Thai dessert I've seen (I haven't seen so many) was some kind of thin crepe which the chef slung to stretch it and then fried. It was filled with super sweet banana and topped with condensed milk and caramel marbles. Sooo good!!

We have something very similar to your sugar "burrito" in Vietnam as well. Instead of the pulled sugar threads, we have these sugar wafers; people tend to also add shredded coconut and toasted black sesame seeds as well before rolling the whole thing up. It's a shame I no longer see this being sold anymore.

Sawasdee khab Khun Pailin. I love all the desserts you viewed, and I was just introduced to Roti Sai Mai having visited Ayutthana this past weekend to visit many Wats. The other dessert I having fallen in love with is a tapioca pearl mixture served in pandan boasts with a coconut cream topping. I have seen it call tagoh, sago, or taco. I would really love to see more about that. Thank you for all that you do for Thai cuisine.

+Pailin's Kitchen Take my word Pailin, it is super-delicious!! However for those little pieces of sticky rice with toppings that are wrapped and steamed in banana leaves, here in Malaysia it's only served with one specific topping- shredded coconut cooked in brown sugar...it is almost like a coconut brown sugar jam & you must try it if you come to Kuala Lumpur!

ขนมเปี๊ยะ ขนมหม้อแกง ขนมชั้น ลอดช่อง สาคูแคนตาลูป โรตีนมข้น ขนมปังสังขยา ขนมครก are just a few of my favorite Thai desserts. Unfortunately, anything that is custard-like (e.g. ขนมหม้อแกง & สังขยา) often use duck eggs or eggs at all from my understanding, which is not vegan friendly. Trying to find ways to make a them vegan/เจ, but have yet to find a good recipe to share these delights with my vegan friends!

along with Mango sticky rice, my favorite Thai dessert is Tako (2 layer pudding with Pandan & coconut) - I have read many recipes and I'm staying with one where I like the consistency: mung bean starch in the bottom layer, rice flour in the top, and I always make them with water chestnuts. I guess I'm lucky to be able to buy fresh Pandan leaves near my home in Germany - I make the Pandan water and the little Pandan cups to pour the pudding in... :-)
