Absolutely Beautiful build Mr Steve. I have to agree with you on the Tempest. I think it is a beautiful aircraft. Certainly my favorite of the British birds. Well done Sir, Well done.

Your model is a fitting tribute not only to P Clostermann, but also to an aircraft that to those who flew it was described as "wonderful" and "a beauty". One of the best to come out of the air war in Europe. Your understated weathering is perfectly done.

I absolutely love the Typhoon, and Tempest! You have produced a beautiful replica of the real thing, in spite of the kits short comings! Amazing work, right through the finish line!

Thank you it’s a tough ride but I love a Tempest too so it was worth it

The lighter coloured exhaust deposits are usually from the tetra ethyl lead in higher octane fuels. I don't know about the Tempest exhausts but those fitted to Merlin engines were made from the alloy Inconel which is both oxidation and corrosion resistant and so didn't rust - but the extremes of heating and cooling certainly caused it to change colour and take on blue and brown hues. A great build Steve.

Lovely finish Steve, your efforts have paid off, especially with that engine. I did it as Clostemann's aircraft when I first built it, but not with that superb resin engine.😮

Thank you I’m not usually a fan of exposed engines but the sabres a bit unusual so makes a nice change

Another fine build, Steve. Great save/workaround on the nose radiator. A spherical burr is just the job for easing holes to slacken overly tight fits.

Outstanding work Steve! I built the Revell version of this kit, and it was great in some respects, but a real bugger in others. I stuck with it and finished it, and ws so relieved when it was done.

Well done for sticking with it Paul I think I had that kit at one time but never got around to building it

An absolutely magnificent build Steve and a joy to watch you work. I confess to having given up on mine and sold it part built to a better modeller than I. I’ll be looking forward to seeing your next build

Thanks Les it was a nightmare but I’m pretty pleased with the end result. I think there must be a trail of discarded SH tempests out there somewhere

Splendid build Steve! I’m having major fit issues with my current build too. It’s a Roden kit and has been an absolute struggle with just the cockpit alone. I’ve had to reengineer and cut many parts to fit it together. It almost went into the bin, but like you I’m just going to try and persevere all the way through. It also happens to be a Ww1 Pfalz which makes the build that much tougher! Thanks again for your tips and expertise and I look forward to your next double build series!👍🏾

Great looking kit Steve, I have only built 1 Special Hobby kit, a 1/18th scale V1 flying bomb, although not a large part count still had issues with fit and finish.

Another great build, it's a shame that Special Hobby can't seem to make kits that fit better and with less problems. I've built two from them and they both had fit issues. Glad to see you got through it alright and the Tempest looks fantastic, good job. I couldn't help but notice the F-4B Phantom on the desk behind you I assume that will be on the work bench soon?
@TheModelShed Жыл бұрын
Thank you this one was a massive test and I’m glad to see the end of it tbh. I’m starting building the F-4 over on my Patreon channel for a bit of relief from this one - I always have an exclusive on the go over there.
@SEMJW Жыл бұрын
Another outstanding build series, Steve. If the F-4 is the next project. Excellent choice. Despite the flaws, I am still a fan of the 1/32 Tamiya F-4s. Built two of the E kits, a third, F-4B/C converted to an E and have two more boxed Js with E sprue parts ordered from Tamiya Japan since the E kits are no longer in production. The builds will be of JASDF 17-8440 and a Sea scheme using DMX decals. Hoping for a new tool, 1/32 F-4 kit but it looks like Tamiya is focusing on 1/48 aircraft. I have added more to my channel. There are the three F-4Es posted as well as two of the Tamiya 1/32 Mosquito.
@TheModelShed Жыл бұрын
Thank you the Phantom is for my next exclusive Patreon build but I’ve done the 1/32 as well and it is a nice kit as you say. It needs a lot more correction than the 1/48 but it’s impressive when done well. you’re obviously a big F-4 fan 😃

Nice build from what looked like a dog of a kit. With those fit issues you really have to wonder about their quality control.
