Thankfully, my service spanned from "MCI's" (the "quality" & taste of MRE's with the weight of cans as a bonus) to 1st generation MRE's (bad, but at least made for carnivores & some of the true "delights" like veggie omelet hadn't been introduced). Although I suppose you could argue that the MCI peanut butter tins were in the same league as veggie omelet. I didn't encounter the veggie omelet until I was a civilian doing disaster relief. One was enough.
