I’ve lived with tornados my entire life (much of the south and the mid-west has). For those who have never had the honor of seeing one in action, congratulations. The things are so loud they are deafening, they often hit at night or evening and if there is any light the storm clouds often block it out. The winds are insanely powerful and can increase and decrease quickly but the real danger is the degree of tornado and what debris it’s kicked up. The debris can be as harmless as sticks and leaves (which hurt like heck when they run into you at speeds) up to and including a roof of a house. They can change direction on a whim , and can throw debris miles away with relative ease. Wind speeds can be as low as 60MPH or as high as over 200MPH. There’s no literal way to outrun it if it’s on your tail, and trying with a vehicle is a solid way to see the winds get under your vehicle and see it get flipped like a bottle. Best chance of survival is to get into a very home or a storm shelter. If you’re out and about get into the deepest ditch you can, lay on your stomach with your head covered and pray. Underpasses, depending on the size and structure can also work. Don’t stay in your vehicle if at all possible. Worse part isn’t even dying, it’s how you die. If you get taken out by debris then it’ll usually be quick and relatively painless, but those who are really unlucky can get pulled in while alive. You’ll get pummeled by all the debris as the high wind sucks your breath from your lungs and tries to break every bone in your body, if your unfortunate enough to survive that, then the next part will be you thrown 5 miles at several several hundred feet high with a very harsh acceleration likely finish you off. Even if you landed in a body of water you’d likely lose consciousness and drown. Very very very few have survived being in a tornado and most of those were lucky to get hit by a relatively weak one that was in the process of dissipating. I’ve seen a single tornado flatten entire towns, and have seen mangled bodies so gruesome they had to be sent off to be ID’d because the damage to the body was so bad. Definitely not something you want happening to you. Lastly they can literally fly. The tornado can touchdown or lift off the ground anytime it wants creating skips where there is horrendous damage , then literally nothing and more horrendous damage half a mile down the road….and yes they can change direction in mid-air.

@@RatnoseMcWeinerson Been a while since I’ve seen an openly admitted “greenhouse gas emissions are not the primary cause of climate change” person. Gotta ask, where is your primary source of info? Or is this a belief that you have before having a source? Have you read any papers on the subject? You know there is no problem in saying you have no opinion because you aren’t informed enough yet. Is this a belief that “trustworthy people” have told you? Why do you think those people are trustworthy and other sources aren’t? I’m of the belief most people don’t want to be misled and just want what’s best for themselves. Somebody has convinced you there is no course of action to take that everything that’s happening is not due to human action. Who benefits the most from you believing that?
