Today, I'm excited to share some of my favorite acoustic guitar moves with you. We'll be exploring the magic of finger-picking and how to add some flavor to your playing using a capo on the second fret.
I'll walk you through a simple but effective progression using G, C, and D chords (1-4-5), but with a twist. We'll dive into some alternate voicings that'll make your playing stand out. I'll show you how to create an interior melody within these chords, adding what I like to call the "Special Sauce" to your playing.
We'll start with a basic G chord and work our way through some hammer-ons and pull-offs, creating a chiming quality that's especially nice with a capo. Then we'll move to the C chord, where I'll demonstrate a cool hammering technique that lets a G note ring out.
One of my favorite parts is sliding the C form up two frets to create a unique D voicing - it's got that Simon & Garfunkel feel that I absolutely love. I'll show you how to tie it all together with a recurring theme that runs through the changes, giving your ear something to grab onto.
By the end of this lesson, you might even find yourself writing a new song! I'll wrap up by demonstrating how to take these concepts further, adding tempo and exploring new directions.
