I'm using the break 1500 course and it helps consider tactics! Im around 700 and winning games provided I don't blunder a piece. Several times I've blundered a rook in the owens, and blundered a minor piece in stonewall and owens but continued development and eventually recovered and played a good game! Learning to calculate and recognize positions is something I am confident will improve with time. I was just getting in a hurry and not managing time. Thanks!

1:01:49 it was NOT checkmate, he would only lose a knight. Because his queen could take the pawn on D3, after you take the knight, he can block the mate by going to g1 with his queen. Therefore it would only lose a knight, and it was not checkmate :) Thanks for the vids as always!

When I started playing chess about five months ago, my elo bottomed out around 300 on Rapid. Progress was slow at first. Getting to 500 was tough but I never seemed able to break past it. Watching your videos has really helped me a lot because now I understand it's really all about fundamentals at my rating level. It's nice to have an opening for both Black and White but more importantly, it's about the basics. For me not blundering is priority number one even though it still happens to me often. The rest of my focus is on controlling the center, developing my pieces, castling, and looking for tactics. 500 to 600 was really difficult but ever since I broke past this level I've just been on a tear. For nearly a week now I've only lost a portion of my games, climbing all the way up to 750. A rating climb of 150 in a week is pretty remarkable but I can feel my chess instincts developing. So anyway, just wanted to say thanks. I've watched every video in this series so far and have found it extremely helpful. Hope all is well!

last time requesting i promise but i would really love to see you try out the alien gambit. it's an opening you can play with white into the main line of the caro khan where after you take the pawn back with the knight you jump the knight into g5, if they try to chase the knight away with H7 you take Nf7. its a full sacrifice of the knight but you get a roaring attack and its very hard to defend against properly

The reason you wouldn't take the rook and take the bishop instead, is because. Your queen gets stuck in the corner and is neutral for at least 2 to 3 moves. Many games are lost because of bad positions not material.

I’m only at 300 elo in timed matches. In the matches without any time restrictions where I can look at the board for several minutes each move, I can play like a 1500. But in timed matches I can be up +5/+7 material with 5 minutes on the clock and still manage to blunder and lose. Seriously, does anyone have any advice how I can stop being so stressed…
@adenmartin4864Ай бұрын
what time control do you usually play? try 30min (or even longer) games, if you haven't already. also definitely play with increment. i used to get stressed, freeze, and lose on time a lot, too, and what helped the most was first only playing longer games, like 30min. once i got to the point where i wasn't getting into time trouble in 30min games very often, then i moved on to 15min games, then 10, and so on. i still struggle with blitz and bullet lol, but at least am doing alright at rapid chess.
