Tamburî Cemil Bey'in ruhu şad olsun. Türk musikisine şahane bir enstruman kazandırdı. Ayrıca gelişiminde rol alan İzzettin Ökte ve Ercüment Batanay'ın da ruhları şad olsun. İlk önceleri orijinal tamburun yayla çalınan haliyken sonradan aliminyum tekne kullanılmış, Yaylı Cümbüş gibi deri gerilmiş. En sonunda da tekrar teknesi orijinal tamburdakine benzer ahşap tekneye dönmüş ancak cümbüşten esinlenilerek kullanılan göğüsteki deri varlığını korumuştur. Enstrümanın göğüsünün deriden yapılmış olması rezonansı kuvvetlendirerek patlak bir tını sağlıyor

That is Lavta what we call in Turkiye. It is a lute from Girit , Greeks calls it Louto

My friends this is neither lavta nor oud. This is the Greek lute which as the name indicates it traces back to the oud. But the neck and sound come from the Greek tamburas.
