It's like his brother can pull the personality out of him and put it into the interpretation. It's pretty amazing, even though you only see him sign and his brother speak, you feel like the dialogue was coming out of him instead.

"The interpreter is just my voice." Such a strong and accurate statement for the deaf and mute communities.
@randomations11
@randomations11 2 жыл бұрын
This is something that I haven't ever really thought about. I don't really know anyone who is hard of hearing, and I'm definitely naive when it comes to deaf culture/communities - but this is clearly a very important thing to learn. I see how disrespectful that must feel, and could make you feel more invisible. These guys are so genuine, and just like a lot of the videos on this channel, always make me aware of things that I take for granted without even thinking about it.
@tookyohead
@tookyohead Жыл бұрын
I suppose I’m uneducated when it comes to the deaf community, so knowing that the interpreter is just his voice and to make eye contact with hims I think that’s valuable information that’ll I’ll never forget and I hope I get to use it one day in real life:) The mind processes information so much quicker than the voice can speak. Using a keyboard with 10 digits is much faster to communicate information than say a phone using 2 digits and so on. The voice is just the interface to connect with someone’s mind. You can see Afro man’s mind is processing information at a very fast rate he is very intelligent.

Agreed. I think it says a lot about modern society that a deaf person understands true communication and does it better than so many hearing people do. Oh is really easy, he can't speak but the majority of deaf people learn when they are young to read lips and to talk, sometimes not that well but you can ask them to repeat, clarify or write it down, I have never encountered someone who got ofended because of it. I was on a kind of pilot plan in highschool were they were mixing deaf people with the rest of the stundets, it was long time ago and they were on specials schools back then. They were on the begining in a group by them selfs at first but we mingle on tje yard, I remember we were kind of drwon to them because of curiosity and end up talking to them evey time we could in rounds with more and more people every time. It worked really great, the next year we had mixed groups, everything worked smooth and prepare deaf people and the rest of us to go to the university and the teachers to give better lectures for them. The teachers were happy once they catch it, deaf people has the possibility to enter university better prepared and we got good friends and a life lection ( and a lot of bad words in signs languaje, we were teenagers after all).

My boyfriend is deaf in one ear because of some structural issues so the thing I learned to do so he could hear me was always be on his left side (unless he's driving in which I will not be hanging onto the door to be on his left side, lol) and that makes it easier for him to hear me. Very sweet, well spoken duo. I would rather hang out with these kids than a lot of “normal” people I know. To not only overcome these challenges but to thrive and brighten other people’s lives is so powerful I can’t put into words how refreshing and healing it is. I have tears but they’re making me smile through them. I wish them all the happiness that I take for granted and haven’t even tried to access throughout my life but it seems like they already have the key. I could definitely learn a thing or two from these guys. Thank you so much for doing this sending love!

"love yourself, because In the end, you are what you have. you can't separate what's inside and what's outside, because both will forever be a part of your life. if you love yourself, you will find yourself." That hit me like a bullet to the heart. I sincerely needed those words in my life. 💔

I haven't seen that boy since maybe 1st grade but these boys helped me bring back some memories. He has a great outgoing personality, i felt so connected with him even though he wasnt using his voice. Having listened to how intelligent this man is, i for one would definitely value his input. I believe God Almighty has blessed him and has guided him to grow. Lots of love to you and your sweet brother that's interpretting. He also seems so lovely and is so sweet and caring.
