Many people with William’s have high emotional intelligence. My daughter Andrea has William’s and she can connect with others so well. Andrea can tell when someone is sad or anxious and tries to reach out to help. She is so kind and people love her immediately. Many William’s kids are. I’m thankful each and every day that God has entrusted me to care for her. She is a blessing to everyone that knows and loves her! Sophia is extremely articulate and expresses herself so well. I wish her all the best…

I agree. I was born with a physical disability and its always made me emotionally develop faster than peers. I always preferred talking to adults as a kid. At the same time, ive always been behind my peers in social development like being ready for dating and other things. Not sure why aside from just being more sheltered than my peers made me more fearful of joining them in their next steps.

Her wisdom and intelligence is possibly what makes it hard for her to be accepted by people her own age. She is beyond her years in the way she communicates and how she comes across - I think the average boy or girl her age are, by the fact they are teenagers growing into adolescence, obnoxious (not saying all are!) Hope that the older she becomes, the more accepted she becomes - the kids who ignore her now will hopefully mature and reach her level of emotional intelligence in a few years.

@@YouCanMakeFireOutOfIce That's just insecure people. People who feel uncomfortable by other people's emotions or personalities, when they have done nothing wrong, are 9 times out of 10, insecure with themselves. The word you use "Awkward" is your opinion, and while you may have not meant harm by using it, how would you feel if you read on here that someone thought you were awkward and that's why they don't like you. So you can still have a way to learn love even if your whole family abused you ever since you were born. And now they don't because I escaped and disowned them. But I wonder what it's like to experience love in a relationship you're in with a live group of people that is like a family rather than reading about it in a book or seeing it played out on a screen?

I can't imagine anyone not wanting to connect with her. Hearing her speak about her emotions, I can't help but understand exactly what it is she is speaking into. I've for many years taken issue with how the people I've known seem to have no interest in reaching out or connecting in a deeper more genuine way. Hang in there Sofia, it's not you, it's the rest of the world that has a problem.

She is EXTREMELY well spoken. You can just tell that she's such a genuine person. Probably laugh a lot and she's got great taste in music. Sophia, I'd be your friend. Honest to God. And my 17 year old daughter said she'd be your friend too. We'd invite you over to hang out or go to the mall or a Taylor Swift concert. I bet we'd have a blast! The people that don't want to be your friend aren't deserving enough to have a friend as cool as you!! And the people that are only kind to you because you're disabled, I bet they'd change their minds if they spent more time with you. I don't even like saying "disabled", I'd rather say "differently-abled". But, anyhooziewoozen (did that word make you laugh? 😂) You're such a kind, funny, spunky, genuine person and literally ANYONE would be lucky to call you a true friend!♡♡♡

I was also in Special Ed. some of my classes were considered 15:1 and some were regular classes with my peers. I still felt somewhat isolated in the regular classes cuz most of my peers wouldn't talk to me or want to be my friend. only time they had to talk to me was if we were doing group work. my senior year, my English class (15:1) was combined with a regular class. I enjoyed it and felt the other students were finally accepting of me. I wish I could go back to that age again to be Sofia's friend. growing up I had issues with social cues. I was also not seen as an equal in the classroom by a lot of my peers. idk why. but I definitely wanted a friend like Sofia. someone who is nice, friendly, respectful, and non-judgmental.

My mom asked them numerous times about moving me to all mainstream but they said no 🤥 idk why but whatever lol it doesn’t matter now at all I recently graduated from nursing school in May 2021 and now I’m working as a RN :) it does not matter that you were special ed, you just have to work hard and know what you want in life ♥️

This still happens in adulthood too. And I mean, I've been on the receiving end of that too and yeah, it kinda hurts, but technically, hanging out with certain friends does also entail being busy. A person is entitled to spend their own free time how they desire. They should not ever be obliged to always include every one of their friends in all they do. I used to have one friend who always stuck to me like superglue and I sometimes just wanted to spend time with another friend/some other friends without this person, too. Because, well, it's a way different vibe and focus then that I/we also liked to experience from time to time. It doesn't mean I didn't like this other friend though. Also, we don't know the reason behind why they done it in her case. Yes, she seems wonderful, but we don't know if she isn't rather emotionally taxing to deal with and/or clingy or anything. I've been friends with special needs people and sometimes you really do need to take a breather and spend time with other people without that person around to recharge, you know? I once suffered an empathy burnout because I didn't, and you don't wanna go through that trust me. Additionally, it's hard to like, communicate to them that you do need some space from them from time to time, especially when they are extra sensitive, because you don't wanna hurt their feelings. But you also gotta look out for yourself. Can't take good care of others if you don't take care of yourself. Gotta give love and attention from your bounty, not your reserves. Learned that the hard way.

I truly believe that she is incredible smart. It's sad that some people don't see her value, the world needs more humans like her.

My goodness! I’m not even five minutes in, and I’m already jealous of those who know or are friends with Sofia. What a genuinely kind person she is and a true gem to this world. I love you, Sofia! 💜 💜

Anyone who doesn't see the value of a friendship with her is blind. She's the kindest and most well-spoken person I've seen in some time. Bullies will get theirs not long after high school ends, and she'll be thriving. Watch as it happens. She's on her way. 🤘🙃🤘

She is better in opening up and talking about emotions than most "normal" people do..... I Love it ❤️

I wish that there was someone like Sophia when I was a teenager- because I would have been her friend. I felt very alone due to my anxiety, depression and bipolar and I think that Sophia would understand perfectly. I hope she realizes that she is an beautiful and phenomenal human being.
