Quick note: when she said lavender honey, its honey made by bees that have collected from lavender plants. No essential oils involved. Actually a better way of getting the benefits of lavender without essential oils :)

I've noticed that the whole "drink water for great skin" thing works for me in the sense that when I'm drinking the recommended amount of water, I'm not drinking beverages with a bunch of processed sugars. I notice a significant difference in my acne when I'm drinking a lot of water for that reason.

Any skin with some type of pigmentation has its benefits, specially as it ages... then again, it has its disadvantages if not taken care of properly. It is all relative.

I watched a dermatologist reacting to her routine and her thoughts on the steaming and microdermabrasion weren't good. The steaming of the face can lead to irritaton trough vasodilation, speacially for people who suffer with melasma or hyperpigmentation. The microdermabrasion machine used at the wrong hands can lead to broken capillaries and bruises. She definitely has amazing genes which hepls a lot

Try azelaic acid! In terms of benefits it's like a mix of exfoliating acids and retinoids. And it's safe during pregnancy! It's very well tolerated and also helps with hyperpigmentation and rosacea. Specially if you have access to a dermatologist, they can prescribe even a stronger product with azelac acid. Paula's choice has a 10% azelac acid booster

I agree with Hyram, there's not a lot of research backing the benefits of steam. I'm trained in cosmetology (hair & skin) and do extensive research in aesthetics and dermatology to compare notes. The benefits I could find with vasodilation is increase blood flow and lowering blood pressure but there's also a risk for extreme hypotension and dangerous low spikes in blood pressure. Widening of the blood vessels causes that flush "glow" which I think is an inflammatory response that can increase risk of allergic reaction and causing skin to become more sensitized (cholinergic urticaria/hives/anaphylaxis) I would stick to a cool mist humidifier instead to keep the wrinkles away 🤓😉

@@nicoledambacher4660 My skin is handling it pretty well so far! I don't have very sensitive skin, so it works. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone with very sensitive skin. I started out once a week and worked it up to every single night. To anyone who wants to use it, make sure to have a simple routine. A cleansing oil or balm, cleanser, moisturizer, maybe a serum (with no active ingredients), and sunscreen. My skin is now glowing!! So much better, and not much acne anymore, and blackheads and whiteheads have mostly disappeared!! Thank you for reviewing and saying you would do the routine yourself! Love you!

Im an esthetician and we do use steam for most facials during the cleansing stage. It doesnt “open pores” because of course you cant but it DOES soften everything up and makes extractions way easier. Its not needed for everyone of course but there is definitely a benefit to using steam for facials. Or something alkaline to soften everything up

Hey Hyram, I know this is so late. But my mom is an aesthetician and I asked her why she always tells me to steam my face (LOL) and she says that apart from opening pores to help with the removal of dirt build-up, it helps with blood circulation so the oxygen and blood moves to all parts of your face. An alternative is those machines/devices that you use to zap your breakouts with oxygen to help them shrink. Hope that makes sense!

You have to remember that black skin is different to white skin. Secondly olive oil is non comedogenic, which means it doesn't clog pores. It's one of the few moisturising oils. This is what works for her and it shows. Her skin is wonderful. Also remember that most black skin can handle some good amount of pressure. So each to their own.
