I've noticed that the whole "drink water for great skin" thing works for me in the sense that when I'm drinking the recommended amount of water, I'm not drinking beverages with a bunch of processed sugars. I notice a significant difference in my acne when I'm drinking a lot of water for that reason.

Try azelaic acid! In terms of benefits it's like a mix of exfoliating acids and retinoids. And it's safe during pregnancy! It's very well tolerated and also helps with hyperpigmentation and rosacea. I agree with Hyram, there's not a lot of research backing the benefits of steam. I'm trained in cosmetology (hair & skin) and do extensive research in aesthetics and dermatology to compare notes. The benefits I could find with vasodilation is increase blood flow and lowering blood pressure but there's also a risk for extreme hypotension and dangerous low spikes in blood pressure. Widening of the blood vessels causes that flush "glow" which I think is an inflammatory response that can increase risk of allergic reaction and causing skin to become more sensitized (cholinergic urticaria/hives/anaphylaxis) I would stick to a cool mist humidifier instead to keep the wrinkles away 🤓😉

Im an esthetician and we do use steam for most facials during the cleansing stage. It doesnt “open pores” because of course you cant but it DOES soften everything up and makes extractions way easier. Its not needed for everyone of course but there is definitely a benefit to using steam for facials. Or something alkaline to soften everything up

Best skin care routine suggested by Hyram in this video: 1 night use Retinol Next night - exfoliant Next night - barrier repair Can anyone please explain this or share a link to his video? I'm a noob and not sure what barrier repair is. Does it have anything to do with TEWL?

I love that you're not only very sweet, and you hate being anything but nice. Your skin is wonderful and I love your shirts. However, you also have a wonderful balance between being a man of science and also just loving natural products that DO actually work, while also calling out stuff that doesn't.

As an esthetician, we make sure to tell clients it’s a 20/80 relationship. We can only give you 20% change in your skin, the other 80% change you see comes from the products you continue to use at home 🥰 It ALL comes down to products.

About Precleanse (or other cleansing oil): if you use it doing the "oil -face wash- oil" method, you will get into your pores, like whoa. Especially, using some kind of vibrating tool while doing the second oil cleanse part.

Hey Hyram, I know this is so late. But my mom is an aesthetician and I asked her why she always tells me to steam my face (LOL) and she says that apart from opening pores to help with the removal of dirt build-up, it helps with blood circulation so the oxygen and blood moves to all parts of your face. An alternative is those machines/devices that you use to zap your breakouts with oxygen to help them shrink. Hope that makes sense!

You have to remember that black skin is different to white skin. Secondly olive oil is non comedogenic, which means it doesn't clog pores. It's one of the few moisturising oils. This is what works for her and it shows. Her skin is wonderful. Also remember that most black skin can handle some good amount of pressure. So each to their own.

I’m sorry, she may not see an aesthetician but she definitely sees a dermatologist, if you look at her face from 20 years ago you can also see that she had fillers to fill in her bum chin and to give her cheekbones more definition, I’m sorry but she clearly gets a lot of professional treatments and this routine is not that impressive.

Could you make a video going over a wide variety of ingredients and what they are and the benefits(or not) that they have? Or just a video going over a fat list of ingredients to avoid? I'm trying to learn, but there are just SO many and it's kind of overwhelming. I've been doing research, but I always learn and retain so much from your videos!
