This routine was published by Erno Lazlo to promote their products. Marilyn did use them, but she also had other products. She also actually seemed to slather on creams and vaseline either because she had dry skin or to look glowier on camera. People did double cleansing out of necessity too, makeup at the time was heavier, and so they needed to dissolve the makeup with cold cream before they washed with bar soap and finished with a moisturising cream. There's a lot of instructional videos from the time on youtube.

She mostly DID use that Phelityl moisturizer over other creams... to the point that if you Google pictures from her death scene there is a jar on the floor under the prescriptions that she overdosed on sitting on a table. www.mirror.co.uk/news/gallery/marilyn-monroe-death-scene-photos-13311876.amp. AND a couple jars of Erno Laszlo foundation was found in her makeup case at auction. anyageorgijevic.com/2015/04/marilyn-monroe-makeup-secrets.html But, if you ask me, at the point that someone is keeping something at a bedside table area along with prescriptions... that is probably what she was consistently using.

Just on the point of people saying: “I wAs BoRn In ThE wRoNg ErA” No. Just no. As a member of the vintage community people from the outside ask me all the time if I think I was born in the wrong era. Absolutely not. There’s still so much oppression of women, POC and LGBT+ people in present day. As if I want to go back to a tome when it was even more prevalent. In the vintage community we say “vintage style, not vintage values.” In here for the cars, the fashion and the kitch homewares and that’s about it. Also, Marilyn is an absolute queen!
@baddieb26054 жыл бұрын
Social justice warriors can’t even let us have vintage makeup tutorials without some negative shit. Not saying we should ignore the problems of that era and be ignorant to it but damn y’all don’t let anyone just exist without pointing some negative shit out. Almost as annoying as conservatives 🥴🥴🥴
@katiekilgore63194 жыл бұрын
I agree 100% I love all things vintage except for the politics 😬 LOVE vintage makeup and a nice Marilyn-esque red lip, love vintage cars, hair, clothes, the diners and candy shops, and even the colors that we associate heavily with that era (red, mint/Tiffany blue, white) but if you asked me if I'd get in a time machine and go back to that era, absolutely not. The love of my life is a different race than me, my best friend is gay, I have a good friend that is trans. I just can't imagine the kind of discrimination we would have to deal if we lived in the 50s, even now we can hardly handle ourselves half the time.

Yeahhhhh...the only house Marilyn actually owned was 5th Helena Drive, and she died there only a few months after moving in, before a lot of new furnishings she bought in Mexico had arrived (I’m an MM junkie). That home was last sold in 2017 for $7.25 million. So she’s either renting or has a ton of money - either way, good for her. My house was built the same year (1929) and I love architecture from that time period.

@hannahsonnenburg77184 жыл бұрын
Great idea! My grandma had some crazy skincare habits like splashing her face with ice water in the morning, washing her face with bar soap and using egg white as a pore tightening mask. ^^ But she also used cleansing cream and other formulated products, possibly ponds.

As soon as I heard Ella Fitzgerald I knew what was coming 😂 That story is great however there are justtt a couple of misconceptions. It was one nightclub, and according to Ella it was not because she was black. It was because they didn’t see her as “glamorous” enough. The club had black women perform before Ella. You could actually put this down to misogyny and body shaming, not necessarily racism.

@@bianka94825 Jasmine Chriswell is her own person. She doesn't pretend to be Marilyn Monroe. Do you see her doing imitations on her channel of Marilyn? No, she talks about vintage clothes and celebrities who existed at that time. It's actually not the last home Marilyn lived in, but one that Joe DiMaggio and her lived in briefly. You would know that if you watched her videos. Your philosophy that a person must be borderline psychotic to buy a house a celebrity once lived in is bewildering. There's nothing wrong with wanting to own a house your favorite celebrity once lived in.
